Rugby fans being equated  with hooligans - OMG.  It would appear that you've never attended a game.

I have to admit I never been to a rugby match. So excuse me for my mistake.

Don't forget The Stones. Paint it Black . ' I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes , I have to turn my head until my darkness goes.'  Brilliant song.

that song appears to be about a lover who died and the darkness is his mood caused by her death.

it's not misogyny.

so you don't need to see a shrink for liking this one.

Rubbish. It is a ballad, a song which tells a story. It neither promotes nor justifies violence

Against women!

but it sounds like a wedding song. it sounds way too upbeat.

listen to Immortal Technique - Dance With the Devil

he commits a violent act ... and then his life descends into hell ... so it's more "holistic".

Right before he pulled the trigger, and ended her life

And crying out to the sky 'cause he was lonely and scared
But only the devil responded, 'cause God wasn't there

And right then he knew what it was to be empty and cold
And so he jumped off the roof and died with no soul

Do you think that songs about killing females are acceptable to be sung by Choirs and sports fans ?

Stabbing to death his girlfriend is OK to sing about ?

It's a story in a song. Its fictional.

There are crime dramas and horror films on TV where women get murdered. Do you want to ban them too?

And you are sexist if you only think it's wrong for a man to kill a woman, but not a woman to kill a man!

No no you got it wrong, if a woman kills a man, it is self defence

Stop over reacting and getting emotional .

Its just a song that a choir will not be singing at half time at a rugby match .

You still still sit at home and watch woman getting killed on television at night, no one is taking that away from you .

You can watch Jack the Ripper movies in DVD all night long if you want

I'm going down to shoot my old lady.

oh yes and in Australia they banned coon cheese, but I am happy I can still buy my favourite ice-cream (golden Gay Time )

I don't think it really justifies violence towards women.  The protagonist acknowledges that they will break down the door to get him; he concedes what he's done is wrong. It is characteristic of many English folk ballads and murder ballads in general. Maxwell of Maxwell's Silver Hammer murders two women on a whim.

Matty Groves?

But we are told what Maxwell did with his hammer, whereas in Delilah "I felt the knife in my hand, and she laughed no more."  Quite artful.  Or did he use the knife to cut a piece of smelly cheese, which she found disgusting?  ????

It can really go off the rails with sanitizing classical theatre, opera, etc.  The Kate Blanchett movie "Tar" touches on this kind of thing;  "but I'm not into cis composers" says one of the characters.

Quite!  And let's not forget all that morbid death song humour from the 1960's, Leader of the Pack, I Want My Baby Back and Transfusion.

I was listening to an early blues guitar distorter, Pat Hare, today.

He wrote "I'm Going To Murder My Baby". And then he did actually murder his baby.

So what?

Well I've never been to a rugby match and doubt I ever will.

As for the song itself, I've sung along with with it, and until now never even associated it with any thing bad, it was/is just a song.

Folks watch porn and for the most part just know it's fantasy. Same with music, you sing along but doubt many people are mentally influenced by it

Somebody thinking up this stuff must have too much time on their hands at work

Singing at the rugby. No Delilah

Swing low sweet chariot is not popular.

And, next, Flower of Scotland:

The former Scotland rugby coach Jim Telfer has reiterated his stance that his country's national anthem should be changed on the eve of the Six Nations.

Telfer, 82, believes it is time for the anthem to be shelved because of its anti-English connotations. He has long vocalised his desire for change for the song that was first adopted by the Scottish rugby team when he was forwards coach back in 1990.

Telfer has now reiterated his stance on the song that references Scotland's victory over English forces at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. "Back then [in 1990], it really got the crowd behind us, but I’d like to think we have moved on..."

I remember Kenny Everett playing I want my baby back and Transfusion years ago. I think it was part of his radio prog. The world's worst records. I suggested to him Jack the ripper which he played.

I had a record that had 'I want my baby back' called 'The Rhino Brothers Present the World's Worst Records'. Fun record. Not the sort of thing for choirs to sing at the footy. Same as this song. May seem politically correct if used to it but from afar it is not hard to see their point.

Do you think that the UK anthen should be sung by English sports fans etc considering that it supports the killing of Scots

"Lord grant that Marshal Wade, May by thy mighty aid, Victory bring. May he sedition hush, And like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush, God Save the King."

That verse isn't in the U.K National Anthem , it was a joke by Billy Connelly that some people took seriously .

   Here are the full lyrics

God save our gracious King!
Long live our noble King!
God save the King!
Send him victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the King!

O Lord our God arise,
Scatter his enemies,
and make them fall:
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On thee our hopes we fix:
God save us all!

Thy choicest gifts in store,
On him be pleased to pour;
Long may he reign:
May he defend our laws,
And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the King![26]

It is verse six and rarely sung anymore, but it is still part of the anthem

The U.K National anthem just has three verses

The Alleged Rebellious Scots "Verse" De-bunked

The notion that a verse about "Marshal Wade" crushing "Rebellious Scots" is, or ever was, part of the British National Anthem is thoroughly debunked in this 5,500 word examination of the evidence.

Can't say I'm a fan of the song, but banning it is ridiculous.

They'll be banning "Sweaty Betty" by The Macc Lads next... ????

Or Black Betty by Ram Jam.

What makes me laugh is seeing princess Anne sing Flower if Scotland.

I like the Welsh, many drunken nights in Rose Street with them. Also the French and Irish.

Just try and stop the Welsh Rugby fans singing it come the six nations. Banning it is like red rag to a lot of Welsh bulls. ????

Next match, this Saturday- Wales V Ireland - wait for it!????

No really a story there .

The fans always sung that song and they wasn't banned or stopped from singing the song , that song was just removed from the choirs playlist .

But it seems that juvenile behaviour is accepted as being normal these days , doing things that you have been asked not to do . That is what children do
