When I read the headline I was frozen in sadness, feeling almost orphaned, strangely alone in the world after his passing. I came here thirteen years ago and regard UbonJoe as having the greatest impact on my life, bringing me certainty where there was so much doubt. Over these years I have grown to recognise a great man who is respected and admired by everyone here that reads his advice.

I remember my first post and reply from Joe in those early days when I was afraid and unsure, he was non judgemental, constructive and invaluable with guidance that brought me through to the place I needed to be.

Most of us have never met Joe, but we have had our lives touched by this man. So like all of us on this forum I am grieving his loss, but then I feel uplifted when I read the tsunami and outpouring of love from the people he helped over so many years. This place is now strangely empty without Ubonjoe’s contributions, but this is also surely the most fitting place for his lasting epitaph given by those he supported in journeys of doubt when navigating this strange impossible land.

We all have to say goodbye to a friend and a guide, but I wish I could have continued to read for many more years on this forum - ‘For the answer, wait till Ubonjoe comes along for real help’.

Rest in Peace Joe. Sadly, I didn’t know you personally, but you advised me on a number of occasions and you were always the one to go to for any of us with visa questions. You will be greatly missed and without your unparalleled knowledge there will be a hugh void that will take some filling. My condolences to your family, both here and in the US.

R.I.P Joe.Thanks you for the advice you gave me a time or on immigration. You were the go to guy .

Condolences to his family.

Joe was the main reason for looking at this forum; his advice, always given in a straightforward, non-judgemental manner, has been accepted as gospel by almost all on this forum.

He will be sadly missed.

Very saddened by this news. Ubonjoe was an invaluable source of accurate information on visas and extensions. My condolences to his family in Thailand and in the US.

RIP

Sadly, he wll be greatly missed as a person who helped many thousands with sound advice.

Thank you.

One of lifes good guys, you gave so much to so many. You can rest now.

Served (under another name) with him as a moderator in the Thai visa section. He was a great source of information and always there to help people. For that alone he will be missed. My condolences to his loved ones.

May he rest in peace.

RIP.
Ubon Joe always had the best and most accurate information on Visas and Extensions and no doubt helped thousands of people during his time on this forum.

He was always the person I turned to when I had a question and I remember he was always polite and well mannered no matter how many times he was asked the exact same questions over and over again.

A sad loss for his family and for expats everywhere in Thailand.

I can not count the number of times his advice has helped myself and others with his clarity on Thai law and other matters.  He will be greatly missed.  Best wishes to his family here and abroad.

RIP UbonJoe. As most members have already pointed out, he is irreplaceable.

May we all strive to be a little like him in our interactions on this forum.

Very little I can add to the kind words of so many other readers. I too had noticed that Joe had been a little quiet lately, before seeing this sad news. What a giant of a man to have helped so many on here for such a long time, without question. RIP Joe - your valuable input and vast wealth of knowledge of Thai immigration matters will be sorely missed.

Thank you for helping me on my immigration issues.

Will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace

Hope not inappropriate.

Have already done couple of posts to champion remarkable guy ubonjoe.

I hope at some point in time AseanNow mods or close friends of Joe can do eulogy of his life.

Obviously family need to approve.

We all wish to acknowledge what a void he has left.

Perhaps know bit more about a bloke that helped us all so much.

Indeed, it would be nice to also put a face to the name.

Joe helped me so much in visa matters.

It will be hard to replace Joe, but you would be a candidate.

The go-to source for immigration information, his expertise will be sadly missed.

RIP Joe

I am so upset yes he was always on here to sort out the nonsense and ridiculous
