over the years i have read many stories about farangs who come to thailand, meet a girl in a bar and fall head over heels in love.

within a few weeks/months they are married and he is planning to take her back to his home country.

ive also met a few bar stool joeys with similar stories.

tellin me how much he loves her, and she loves him.

they've usualy known each other less than a month.

 

what are these blokes thinking?

are they that desperate that the only girl they can get is a bar dweller?

who probably had 1 or 2 guys for breakfast before you showed up.

 

i see them pretty much daily. all over weight, bald, with no teeth.

the girls love them. only because he is paying of course.

the girls dont even look at me when i sit on my stool.

im well dressed, not too old and speak thai.

they know that I know their game like the back of my hand. 

 

a fool and his money are easily parted. this is especially true when it comes to the bar scene.

why on earth would a western bloke marry a bar girl?

Looking at your previous posts it seems you are the one who thinks girls should entertain you for free.

And then you found out more than once that this didn't work out.

 

I guess you will marry a cashier... 

 

Many get screwed with gals, in Thailand or in the West.  The only difference maybe is how the screwing is handled !! (no pun here).

There are OTHER girls in Thailand that are fit for marriage that happen to not work in a bar.

Take a good look around someday at the wives/husbands of a lot of western farangs....why would you marry someone who weighs two times you...why would you marry someone who nags you night and day?  Why would you marry someone who when it goes pear shaped takes half or more of everything you own.....it is not just thailand were some strange choices are made...in fact with many bar girls unless you are braindead you have a pretty good idea of what you are getting often moreso than with a western gal.

Yes, there are. But are they better than the bar girls? 

Obviously you will be able you married a good girl. But that's about it.

mrs smith has never asked me for a single penny. in fact, quite the oposite, she pays 80% of the time we go out..

Not to sure about this as one of your first threads was how you took a "girl" to Koh Chang and were shocked she expected to get paid. Not only that but for you were genuinely surprised at the predicament you had gotten yourself in.  By the way, when did "Mrs" Smith come along?

I realise that there are things like a lifetime together and kids/grandkids involved with older Western couples, but when you see a man with a giant woman who treats him like garbage, it seems like he just has to take it, because he knows that if he leaves his life will basically be over, no money, no access to the kids, completely alone, probably a social pariah.

 

Obviously everybody ages, but it kind of seems like something's up when a lot of what women bring to the table is their bodies, and men their income.  When a man is 50, he's still bringing in money, and likely will until he dies, but a woman at 50 isn't bringing much with her body anymore.  (I think it used to be that women were more careful about who they had sex with, so they sort of brought their chasteness to the table as well.  I'm not sure what the future holds for women who bounce from hook-up to hook-up.)

 

If you have the money, and you can work out an arrangement that suits you both, I can see the attraction in a sex-giving carer and maid.  Obviously the women must prefer this life with an old-timer more than life in the bar (despite what people say) otherwise they would stay in the bar.

 

If the girl is attempting to steal the man's money and still has a Thai boyfriend, then that's a different story.

I have no intention of throwing my life away by marrying a bar girl. Ladies with regular jobs are enough of a challenge. I have found them just as duplicitous as those in the bar. All of the women I dated had straight jobs. All were very dedicated to getting their hands on my money. Only one never asked me for anything. She ran off with a Thai man. My current live-in lady asks very little and is happy to have a roof over her head.

2 weeks in my case.

I was thinking I needed a new VISA, regular sex and a womb to gestate my baby in.

 

No mention of love, it was a purely expedient decision. And it's worked out far better than any previous choices I made for love.

It could depend on how long she has been a bar girl.  I saw an interview of a long term expat in Thailand and in essence he said  “you can the girl out of the bar but can you take the bar out of the girl”.  He said can someone who stays up all night, wakes up at 1200 and drinks really adjust to getting up at 700 AM to go to a low paying job?
