Top Thai Police Officer Vows to Regain Trust of Public Following Kamnan Nok Shooting Scandal

National – On Sep 18th, 2023, Pol. Col. Phakpoom Phisamai, one of the lead investigative team members on the recent “Kamnan Nok” case, posted on social media about the shocking and depressing incident that happened to colleagues.

Many officers were affected by social criticism for what happened after the incident.

In this case, the tragic incident caused one good officer to be killed, some were wounded, and some were a suspect. He believed that no officer would have expected that the dinner party would abruptly turn into a murder scene.

At the dinner party, many law enforcement officers had mixed reactions to the unprecedented shooting. A group of officers allegedly aided the suspect in fleeing the crime scene, sabotaged the evidence, and
neglected the wounded.

Such actions were considered an act of betrayal of what Pol. Col. Phakpoom Phisamai called the esteemed duties of Thai police.

But don't worry, the police will regain their good image by all buying new uniforms and asigning the unior officrs to highly polish the shoes of the seniors every morning and afternoon.

And they will all buy new hand guns to show they have good equipment, the juniors can clean the handguns at the same time they polish the seniors' shoes.

So, what's new Pol Col?

Just another day in the life and times of those honourable, trustworthy, hardworking lads of the Thai Police. This is surely a now daily event? Botch the evidence and then dump/destroy it if it suits and a satisfactory little "thank you"  paid.

Utterly disgraceful behaviour and you guys have zero chance of gaining, (note gaining and not regaining)  any public trust.

If you admit there is a trust issue then dig a little to find the cause. You won't have to dig far, it's right there on the surface, EVERYONE is aware of it.

This will fail out of a very basic and simple reason. They can not see that this is not the only case that have built up the lack of confidence and trust in the police force and other instances connected to upholding the law. Every time something happens, they use that single incident as the reason for the lack of trust and confidence. As usual failing to see the big and grim picture that has been the red line for decades.

The only "now" trustful officer at that party is dead is the bit that the Pol, Col needs to get his head around ????

"The esteemed duties"...

Ehhh... come again please?

The average Thai's first experience of corruption is from the local police.  It then influences his choices as he grows.

And how does he intend to do this? By dismantling the entire police force? And why was the 'honest'? cop attending a dinner hosted by his alleged killer?? I feel sorry for those niave young men and women who became police persons before they became tainted.

Maybe you should ask yourself why police officers were at the party?

You call these acts a betrayal because they were perpetrated on a police officer by police officers. If it had been done to a common citizen, where would be your outcry?

Now you want to "regain the public's trust" after decades of unmitigated corruption... Well, here is how: give us decades of dedicated, uncorrupted, honest service by the police force and maybe you earn it. Good luck.

Trust isn't gained by words. Trust has to be earned, every day, by doing the right thing. More words and more corruption isn't going to help you 'gain trust'. You won't be able to trick people into trusting you.

More chance of successfully herding cats than restoring public trust in the corrupt uneducated oafs that are the biggest crime family to none in Thailand...

This was probably one of the easiest crimes to prosecute and yet it’s fallen off a cliff and everyone knows why.
There is less chance of gaining trust than there is a prosecution because, after all, the star witness (the gunman) was conveniently removed from the equation. I recall the media frenzy at the time when a very senior officer said the police would take the gunman (prime witness) dead or alive.
Regain trust????? What a hollow, throw away statement. My, yet to born, great great grandchildren will be dead before we see any trust issues resolved and I still don’t have children yet.

It can never happen!  Never!

Thailand. There is always a "Top "

Their main job is to get on their soap box and make claims.

There are 72 provinces within each provinces there many more districts within the system they all operate on their own which is mainly not to protect and serve but to protect their own interest.

As I've written before, the Thai system is that he has spoken, made his recommendations, and his job is done. Anything that happens later is not his responsibility. You, I, he and everyone else knows that what is said will be ignored and is unenforceable, but that is not the point. He has acted, done what he considers to be his job, while actually doing nothing. This happens all the time, at least once a week. Someone makes a declaration and the next day it's ignored and forgotten. But that person has done their job by 'acting'.

If they ever even find anyone guilty--very doubtful--likely, they will just be assigned to 'inactive posts'.   This ridiculous 'inactive post' business should be the first thing eliminated.

The dinosaurs will re-roam the earth before the Thai public ( and others) will trust Thai police...

You can't regain what you've never had.

If the top brass want to have a little trust they need to start at the top. And that aint going to happen.

Regains trust?  when did they ever have any trust?

Is he in the 99% you state are rotten to the core, or is he OK because you personally know him?
