Thats a modest house ... not a lavish house. My money is still on more of a good guy than a bad guy.

I was kinda shocked at this headline and the short report.  But as an American who is embarrassed by my own politicians and rich barons that care only for themselves and not the nation nor its people, I shouldn't be surprised about this raid either.  However, I will let the courts here decided what has gone wrong.

As for the US, I saw a headline today "American politics, the corrupt Road to Riches".  It permeates every level in the US today.

Did not allow to enter his house ...
So this was really a big joke. Hahaha

That would all depend on what side your hiso friends are on.

the police here are really a "BIG JOKE"

He may be corrupt but he is my corrupt cop. Whose toes did he step on or just a ploy to deny him police chief

They also raided 5 houses that "Big Joke" had bought for his subordinates. According to another newspaper

Along with his Luxury cars, the extraordinary wealth exhibited could be excused for the equally corrupt CCIB early morning raids.

Police raid home of deputy national police chief in Bangkok

Cyber crime police raided house, in a housing estate in Bangkok, of Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, the deputy national police chief this morning (Monday), as part of their investigation into an online gambling operation.

Surachate, who was in the three-storey town house in Vibhavadi Soi 60 at the time, initially refused to let the police in, until Pol Lt-Gen Worawat Watnakornbancha, the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau commissioner, arrived.

A bronze Toyota Alphard, a grey Land Rover and a white Lexus were parked in front of the house.

The raid was led by Pol Maj-Gen Jaroonkiat Pankeaw, commander of the Police Cyber Task Force (PCT). Similar raids were also carried out this morning on about other 30 targets in Phetchaburi, Samut Prakan, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani and Saraburi provinces. Seven police officers, including a police major-general, who are under the supervision of Surachate, have been held for questioning.

And did they enter? A search warrant normally gives the bearer power from the courts to enter the named premises.

Failure to do so in most countries would result in arrest and the premises turned upside-down.

I'm speculating that the guy in charge of the raid was allowed in and the matter put to bed with an envelope. (Just saying).

Big Joke is probably honest, which is why he is constantly (internally) targeted.

Ha. Haha. Hahaha. A big joke indeed.

The most hilarious part is that some people on here actually thought he's a good guy, despite rising in the ranks of that crooked organization (the Thai police farce) in record time. ????

Since the RTP is a big pyramid scheme, and up until recently the Biggest Joke was the top dog, it make sense that he has hundreds of millions, if not billions of baht hidden somewhere, and that the straight guy routine was a sham, that so many bought into. However, I am always skeptical of an investigation into one of their own. It rarely results in much, other than a big show that goes nowhere.

Big post, many assumptions, no facts... yawn.

Woo yeah, ridicule everything!

This is definitely some political battle between 2 factions, but for the police who have to make a raid against a senior police official with access to all manner of exotic weaponry, they will wear at least basic "entry team" kit.

I see cops wearing body armor including ballistic helmet and goggles. They are also armed with long guns because pistol calibers don't work against body armor and are also less accurate.

I don't see "commando gear", and you obviously don't even know what it means.  What I do see are police officers that would like to survive an armed encounter with possibly dirty cops with access to the same type of weaponry.

Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) officers raided the home of Royal Thai Police (RTP) Deputy Commissioner Surachate “Big Joke” Hakparn this morning over allegations of his involvement in an online gambling operation. Big Joke denied the allegation and refused to allow officers to enter his home.

CCIB officers attempted to raid five houses owned by Big Joke in Soi Vibhawadee 60 near the Police Sports Club in Bangkok’s Lak Si district at 8am today. One of the houses is Big Joke’s home while the other four provide accommodation for members of his team.

Big Joke did not allow any officers to enter his home and the CCIB Commissioner, Worrawat Nakhonbancha, is now negotiating with his 53 year old deputy.

An arrest warrant for the Big Joke has not yet been issued. The authorities’ primary objective is to search his residence for potential evidence related to the allegations and to conduct a thorough investigation.

According to Thai PBS, Big Joke’s financial transactions were allegedly found to involve the former president of Lamphun Warrior Football Club, Pongsiri “Tarn” Ratchawongsuek. Tarn was previously arrested for operating an online gambling site called TS911.com and for money laundering through his support of the football team.

OK let me explain it. The reason they were wearing camouflage is they paid about 10 times more than what they really caused so they have to use them just for appearance shakes you know the big brown envelope and everything they buy go to the top guy  big joke. Drives in Lexus. He owns many many houses in his name and his family’s name. And he’s been putting on a pretty good act. He does this corrupt as the rest of them from the top to the bottom no surprise I like that they came to Raiders house and he would not allow it. What does that tell you he’s above the law he has the right connections, and he probably has a lot of dirt and some very important people here that he keeps in a safe place just in case, the whole country is total corruption TIT
