A COUPLE filed a police report against an online lottery vendor after the number on five tickets they had ordered but did not received, 727202, turned out to be the first prize winner in Sunday’s draw, with the total payout being whooping 30 million baht, Sanook.com said today (Oct. 2).

At 10.30 a.m. Mr. Somkiat (surname withheld), 60, and his wife Ms. Nareerat, 37, told police at Taluk Du station, Thap Than district, Uthai Thani province, that they had got this number by performing a fortune stick prediction at a shrine.

As none of the lottery vendors they talked to had this number, on Sep. 23 they checked an online lottery vending webpage. There they were able to place an order for five tickets with this number, at cash on delivery.

Looks like a strong case, although using cash on delivery is a bit strange for lottery tickets

seems like this lottery is plagued with fakes and scams ....  so did they actually receive the tickets and pay COD or did they not receive the tickets ?

If they weren't sent then the website is fake  ?

and same as the other news story,  the third party website that guy used must have been fake as he was told his tickets with 66 were not winners.

Wonder what proof they have of placing the order?  Will this mobile chat suffice? Nor had they paid for the tickets.

so they order 5 tickets ....  didn't receive them ... didn't pay anything ..

so what's the point of the fake online vendor  ?   he scammed 0$  from them.

he's not entitled to one satang really because he's got no tickets to show ...

the cops just need to shut the website down and that's it.

From the link:

However even though they waited for the lottery tickets they were not delivered thus payment not made.

After finding out that this is the first prize winning number they contacted the webpage but the administrator refused to take any responsibility for the uncompleted transaction, saying they had not confirmed the purchase and could not be contacted so tickets were sold to others.

The two of them therefore today filed the complaint to stake their right to the big prize.

in that case he'll probably go and shoot the administrator

Yeah to win lotto ya kinda need to have tickets paid for and received.

Can anybody make any sense of the English that makes up the first sentence/paragraph of the OP?

If they believe in the lottery, why not just buy tickets for the next draw...

because they only get their spiritual guided numbers late with every draw ... usually a number plate after a car crash or a chicken scratching the ground to reveal the winning number.

That's in thai language ......  in layman's terms,  what does it mean  ?

The shop then took a photo of the lottery ticket to confirm. and immediately made 2 calls to customers because it was the first time trading To confirm buying-selling but unable to contact So I asked the customer: “Can I contact you at the number you gave me?” But there was no reply that day.

As the seller had never dealt with the buyer before and the buyer was asking for cash on delivery seller tried contacting buyer to confirm if real or not but buyer didn't return call

Unless they can prove they purchased and payed for the tickets I think it will be a non starter if you buy tickets online you get the tickets plus receipt of payment asking for cash on delivery is different if the seller didn’t deliver the tickets then no monies would of changed hands bit like Lazada when you ask for COD and Kerry fail to deliver they send it back to the seller there is nothing you can do about it it’s a case of bad luck

They were not delivered, confirmed or paid for, which is quite easy to understand if you as usual can read the full story before commenting.

It seems Mr. Somkiat already hit the lotto a few years ago.

My wife tells me that Thai news reports that they were uncontactable to receive the tickets, which were COD; they then did not contact the vendor again until after it was known that the numbers had hit the jackpot …

The Thai lottery is a scam.  Winning tickets are distributed to chosen winners in advance of the draw- hi-sos only .  (This is my opinion based on the current level of corruption in every walk of Thai life.)  Until they adopt a similar system to digitally choosing your own numbers it will remain suspect.

Have you ever actually watched the draw on TV? It's old school, but it's hard to believe it's all a set-up.
