A brawl between a group of British and South African tourists on Bangla Road, Patong, Phuket, was reported to local police yesterday morning, January 5.

Injuries were sustained by both parties and the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation was mobilised to send the injured individuals for treatment at Patong Hospital.

Photos of the scene of the incident have been released, however, the exact time and location of the brawl have not yet been confirmed. Foreign volunteers were seen meditating and consoling some foreign men near the east side of Bangla Road.

The identities of the individuals involved were not disclosed by police. According to authorities, the tourists in question have reached a settlement between them, reported Phuket News.

From the Link:

Late December last year, 117 volunteer guards were certified to assist in the maintenance of law and order at entertainment venues on Bangla Road after the 4am curfew came into effect. This was part of the Strong Tourism Community (STC) project where volunteer guards are trained and employed, initiated by Tourist Police Commander Lieutenant General Saksira Phueakam. Training included assisting and maintaining tourist safety, as well as first aid knowledge and CPR.

Seems to be as pro-active as the police.

Just there for the clean-up operation.

I think most Boers were of Dutch origin.

I will bet anything you like the fight started as a result of a comment or argument over the recent Rugby World Cup. The two groups then deciding to do a rematch.😂

Really?

If the Brits didn't have guns at Rorke's Drift, the Zulus would have speared the lot of them.

Another 'none news' item from the Thaiger, they get worse.

Quality tourists, plenty of alchohol, extended drinking times .. all the vices rolled up in one for even longer ... what could possibly go wrong.

There's clearly a need to keep giving the xenophobes articles to comment on...

And if I didn't have male wedding tackle I could have been in the front row of the Tiller Girls on Sunday Night at the London Palladium.

Yes but unfortunately they did have them, no stopping the war mongering Lord Chelmsford on his land grab.

by that logic, if the zulus hadn’t had spears, then they wouldn’t have …..

Do we know how many were involved or what flavour of South Africans were they?

Reminds me of the Spitting Image song "I've never met a nice South African" (many a true word....) and I lived there for four years. Also my brother is now a Sarf Ifrikin!

Unfortunately it seems that a lot of Brits are incapable of handling booze without coming over all alpha and agressive and so I can understand how this sort of thing can happen.

I’ve met the King of China

And a working Yorkshire miner

But I’ve never met a nice South African …… 😆

......... It was written and broadcast at the time of the UK coal miners strikes, and the 4 day week.

I would have thought the incident involving the THAI police Officer and the Thai border guard having a shootout at a Thai restaurant over the affections of a Thai waitress working there, which resulted in one being shot in the leg and the other being shot in the head would have been more newsworthy.

Tend to agree, they are hard to like.

Should chuck a boxing ring on bangla. Walking streets got one. Well it did about 8 yrs ago last time i went.

Then untrained drunk tourists could all smash eachother in a more respectable manner

It was India v Thailand a week or so ago on Pattaya Beach Rd.....

Wonder who and where the next round will be!

Thailand, the hub of International fight club.

Everyone obviously don't realize, the term "South African" refers to a descendant of a "Brit Immigrant"  the other Caucasians are "Afrikaaners " of Dutch descent, re the Boer War!
