Chalong, Phuket-In a dramatic turn of events, Chalong Police apprehended a male German national who had overstayed his visa by more than 500 days. The incident unfolded in the quiet neighborhood of Soi Naya in Rawai.

According to Chalong Police Chief Colonel Eakkarat Plaiduang, officers responded swiftly after receiving reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, they encountered the foreigner, who was shouting and behaving erratically. Fleeing from the authorities, he sought refuge inside a nearby house, barricading himself behind a locked door.

Despite their attempts to engage in dialogue, the man remained uncooperative. In a startling escalation, he brandished an axe, threatening both the police and anyone who dared to enter. Objects were hurled from the house, creating a tense standoff.

A FOREIGN man was arrested for overstaying over 500 days after his neighbours in Phuket’s Chalong subdistrict complained that he has often wielded an axe and a knife in rampaging through the area, Amarin TV said today (Apr. 5).

Chalong police went to the unidentified German man’s house and found that the complaint held up because he also threatened them with his axe and knife before running into his house and throwing things at them.

In doing so he shouted, “If anyone comes in, I will fight to death.”

After getting the neighbours’ complaint police investigated and discovered that this German man had overstayed in Thailand for over 500 days so got a warrant to search his home.

Well I was threatened with a  Machete, and reported it to the Police........... at first they told  me to report it elsewhere... that was the brush  off, but i went elsewhere who sent me back to the first station ( the  incident  happened right outside their station)

I'm glad to report  no investigation or action in  ANY WAY was  taken against the  person with the machete a  THAI NATIONAL who'm the police told me they knew was a "bad person" (sarcasm off)....... their  words....... I'llawait the " you made it  up "     or  "prove it"  retards, so to save you the  time.......

Guess  youll want the context too as im sure the forensic brigade  will be out as  well, waiting at front of queue at junction to turn right , mr "I cant wait" jumps out the queue 8 cars  back as lights  change,  as I  pull off he tries to railroad in  to the front and doesnt like my vehicle being in his very important way slowing him down, hes  totally in my blind  spot on the left.

No concerned netizens  appeared and despite  e mailing ANUTIN he said I was too dirty to be dealt with.

Maybe I should post it to the UK Daily Mail they like this sort of  stuff

Russians must tread all these crime reports before they move there and say "Dam, this sounds like a pretty good place for me'.

It started when it went from so called quality tourists to quantity.

It seems the more tourists there are the better the news, rather than manageable numbers who spend real money

It's turned into a foonkin MELEE of whacko foreigners down there already. The place was great and unique in the early nineties. Now, forget it.

The German should have been arrested and deported just on the basis of having a Mullet.

As most of these problems seem to be happening in Phuket, maybe the easiest solution would be to demolish the bridge and push the island further out into the sea and then pretend it doesn't really exist.

Really no different than pretending that prostitution doesn't exist in Pattaya or that corruption doesn't exist in the police and gov't.

All they have to do is say "Phuket no longer exists" and everyone will (apparently) just believe it and carry on and then the officials won't have to deal with problem !

Just more trash that Thailand is so skilled at attracting. We read of them day after day after day.

Unless you have PR or a Thai passport you are a guest here and need to behave properly

What does Thai criminality have to do with anything ? My country is overrun with nutters and crims unfortunately we can't deport them if the have US citizenship.

You understand my point then

Nothing of the crimes Thai criminals or Politicians commit affects the average law abiding expat

Foreign crims paint all foreign people with the same brush and drags us down

Seems like it's the 'Mullet' style, very popular with Germans with their cut off denim shorts and sleeveless denim jackets.

No the point is I reported a  crime nothing was done, nothing at all

Immigration would have entry records.

Surely a fairly straight forward process to raise alarms on overstay people.

Perhaps a good move would be to offer say 1000 baht for information leading to an arrest (kick 'em out) order.

Many Thai have their head stuck in mobile phones these days so some kind of app perhaps.

Unfortunately in many places if there was a system that you advocate, there would be a long queue of locals waiting to dob in any foreigner in the hope of getting the equivalent of 3 days salary.

And the beat goes on. 80 per cent of these cases  could have been handled without pumping the media, ...

However that is not the point. With the economy tanking, and Chinese tourism post Wuhan flu, a fail, no better way to distract the populace than pump up some healthy,  populist, xenophobia. Likely take a couple months to work it out of the collective system. Just be careful out there in case the neighbors  throw rocks. And remember, it will all be better once they throw those bad guys out ..  cause your a good guy.

Even more so in the early Eighties. By the end of the 90s it was already turning to crap

If you did that in Thailand it would be tantamount to ethnic cleansing; mind you casual observation does suggest that the "Herrenvolk" here do seem to have an, umh, individual approach to personal hair styles!

Not me.

From all these recent occurrences, the Thai police have shown remarkable restraint when encountering crazed Farangs.

Then, as police, you really want to be better armed than any bad guy, and barricaded suspects are particularly dangerous.  Drunk and especially methed-out crazies, have an amazing ability to absorb pistol bullets before their bodies stop working.
