Not me.

From all these recent occurrences, the Thai police have shown remarkable restraint when encountering crazed Farangs.

Then, as police, you really want to be better armed than any bad guy, and barricaded suspects are particularly dangerous.  Drunk and especially methed-out crazies, have an amazing ability to absorb pistol bullets before their bodies stop working.

it's nothing but a farang witch hunt!

Good grief, daily occurrences now on Phuket, it's like they have opened a can of worms down there.. Better blow up the bridge and patrol the waters until they have sorted this out.

If you did that in Thailand it would be tantamount to ethnic cleansing; mind you casual observation does suggest that the "Herrenvolk" here do seem to have an, umh, individual approach to personal hair styles!

The hair style and losing their mind usually starts off on a island named Phangan, after they paid a few 10-15K courses to become a shaman, and take drugs, if not more.

Take me out back and put me out of my misery if I ever get petty enough to rat someone out just for being on overstay or a WP violation.  Even for $30 USD.

That doesn't apply to axe wielding crazies.

People dob in others for many reasons.

Stealing girlfriends, stealing money, stealing jobs, stealing food out of the fridge, refusing to do their share of cleaning the house, personal hygiene, attacking neighbors with an axe, having an obnoxious personality, boasting at the pub about how clever they are, etc., etc.

To stay off the radar you have to maintain a very low profile and be cleverer than most.

There are so many of these crazy incidents occurring on Phuket now that they don't even phase me anymore. Another day, another nutter, just a typical day in Phuket now innit.

They have always been there, but now they have started this media campaign with the ultimate aim of evicting all whiteys..

It will probably culminate by mid next year when many will get caught in the tax law changes.

Nothing like keeping a low profile when being a criminal.   You can't fix stupid.

Big thanks to his neighbors ... for ridding the loonies from TH 👍

Really needs to happen more often :coffee1:

There are 2 things the government need to do to stop all this rubbish happening.

1) Increase whatever you are adding to the water supply.

2) Fence off the entire island until all the nutters have eliminated each other

Unfortunately, huge numbers of visitors result in associated increases in criminal activity.

Phuket is one of the most attractive world destinations for tourism despite the opinions of a few disillusioned expats with a grudge.
For those proposing selling, sinking or sectioning off the Island, have you considered the impact on Thailand's economy?

"Before the Covid-19 pandemic in 2019, Phuket had welcomed 14.5 million foreign tourists, generating revenue of 422 billion baht, ranking second after Bangkok. The province's gross domestic product was 251 billion baht"

Yes. But there does seem to be on this board a small but determined cohort who enjoy the mechanics of deporting those less fortunate than themselves

I am actually surprised there are people like that here, I didn't think people of that nature were even attracted to places like Thailand, I'm sure they didn't exist here years ago and I personally have never knowingly met anybody of that nature  in real life,   Where do they live?  where do they socialise, do they actually have any real friends?  How do their ex bargirl wives even cope with them?

My guess is they can normally be found safely tucked away in their gated communities, splitting their time between shopping in "Tops"  and the golf course or chairing meetings of their residents association . Then, in the evenings they retire to their "office" with their glass of red wine  and scour websites like this looking for anything that they can vent their pent up frustrations on from behind the safety of their keyboards

One such person on this thread has actually posted his own proposals for stricter immigration rules.! :cheesy: predictably consisting of" deportation and a ban"  starting off  for a mere 7 days overstay and gravitating to a " life time ban"  sad  but true

Do these sanctimonious geriatrics, encouraging others to become police informants, understand that even cutting their own manicured lawns or trimming the roses could theoretically land them in the IDC as they themselves become a deportation statistic.  The Thai immigration authorities will not consider them any differently from a Russian mafioso or a German overstayer despite their own perceived social status as quality expats

What goes around tends to come around, people should be careful what they wish for

Is there really any need to even consider actually shooting a person for such a minor offence?  Are you American by any chance  There was really no need to turn up mob handed like that , he could easily have been apprehended discreetly by catching him off guard.     Totally ridiculous operation and staged purely for the media, who were no doubt informed in advance
