  • A simple "not like" emoji (thumbs down) would forestall a lot of invective.   Having 4 different emojis expressing approval, and none to coldly express the opposite, is ridiculous.

Why are many reports on this forum never followed up and are mostly out of date.   Please don't say contact support, they never answer and if they do are not polite.

  • Accepting constructive criticism has never been s strong point on here.

What is wrong with Thailand News this morning???

  • Popular Post

too idealistic.

one thing i learned from this forum is the more opinions you express, the less people like you.

so "I still like the person" is silly.

"I didn't comment"....great this would certainly shorten the length of various discussion threads.

What’r yo, a troll?

My favorite posts are responses saying they won’t respond or that they are ignoring me.

Not sure what's going on, but I've started adding people to my ignore list like never before. Is this an influx of rude folks from Thaiger now that it's merged with AN?

I saw a post I didn't agree with and

I didn't comment

There's a difference between not agreeing and somebody just posting misinformation. Most of the times I see people called out (aside from where there are specific personal gripes between individual members) it is because somebody has posted information that is factually incorrect. As ASEAN now doesn't have any in-built fact checking, users are of course going to want to prevent such false information being spread.

I still like the person

Still like who? This is a web forum. I don't think most of us are forging deep personal bonds on here. Perhaps 'I still respect the person' would be better?

I didn't comment and

I just kept scrolling on...

have the new owners approved this policy??

More should practice this

A bit preechy.

I don't think much of it I'm afraid. But you are right that members should not take offense too easily.

The whole point of the forum is surely to comment on posts, ideally in a constructive and civil manner. In a sense on matters where subjective judgement is involved, part of the purpose is to change other members minds.

What on earth has liking people on the forum to do with anything.

I visit AN mostly for entertainment purposes.

It's great when you need info, but even then you gotta have a thick skin.

But teasing and arguing is part of the fun, so I don't agree entirely with what you say.

Teasing and arguing is ok, but far too many members get downright nasty. As I posted above, my "ignore" list is growing, and I really don't like putting members in there.

Mine are those displaying  blatant anti-semitic attitude. I keep them for my own little WW II museum.

The overall point that it's trying to make is pretty much on the money.

I'd drop the "I still like the person" though as it makes it sound as if I'm back at school (long memory).

And cut into the profitability of the Asean Now forum

No, it's probably because you're growing more petals.

I saw a post I didn't agree with.

I didn't get offended. Why should I get offended if someone has another opinion?

I posted on that thread that I disagree for this or that reason.

And others posted their opinion.

A discussion started about the subject. People exchanged ideas and opinions.

Isn't that the whole idea about a forum?

And isn't that the business of forums to have many people discuss issues?

Or do you want something like:

I saw a post I agreed with.

I posted right away that I agree.

And then 3 more agreed.

We all agree.

Nobody disagreed.

Is that what you want?

Unfortunately this forum is populated by many that think they can personally insult other posters. Most of them inhabit my ignore list.

Great idea for forum guidelines.

Sadly, some members seem to think other members can't have different opinion to theirs, then they reply with hostility. Perhaps it's boredom, they are lonely, looking for attention.

I found the BLOCK feature recently, what a wonderful option.

Sometimes you got to just turn off and ignore the antagonizers.

If everyone went by those guidelines, Georgie boy, there'd be little content. 😋

Agreed.

My ignore list is 2 pages long.

The thing with the emojis is just a joke. It doesn't work🙏

Sounds like common sense to me.

Examples where people don't follow that is when people moan that certain people have started threads, then moan more when they stop posting and the forum is quiet

Ignore list?

I didn't know there was one.

I get a warm fuzzy feeling just thinking about it.

Everybody  please feel to add me to your personal ignore list.

I'm getting a buzz now just thinking about it.

What happens when someone posts in the Pattaya forum: haven't been there for more than 12 hours in 15 years as it's a sleazy <deleted> hole.

I don't agree with that and I am offended that someone who obviuosly doesn't like or even visits Pattaya has to come into a Pattaya forum and troll us that live there.

You are correct in that I don't need to change their mind, however they need to stop visiting sub-forums about a place they have a hatred for....

Why should we just accept their obvious troll post without comment? Or should we go to their sub-forum and post everyday about how much we hate their life choice?
