I know it's not a drama, but I would like to know one thing: I charged someone's cell phone for 200 thb with the promise of being refunded... but still nothing. With the phone number and proof of top-up, I can report the person, go to true and have them deactivate the number.
I repeat: it's not a drama, it's a useless post, but I just wanted to ask how it works in these cases. Thank you all.

You should hire some nasty types and get them to beat the 200 outta the thief !

Get the police involved immediately. It maybe only 200 that to you, but it is theft and the police will want to know as petty criminals usually have a string of offences up to and including murder that they haven't been caught for.

And police will do something? My concern is that I don't think he has stolen as I voluntary top up his phone. Thank you.

I would definitely go to the police with this misdemeanour, they have a boring job at times and I’m sure they will thank you for bringing some humour into their lives.

No one will do nothing. True will not deactivate the number as it does not belong to you.

You have just learnt Life Lesson 102.

Unfortunately the police would just laugh at your request and True would ignore you.

Best bet is to meet your 'friend' and embarrass them in a big way - in public.

Get a new boyfriend ,

This one seems untrustworthy

if it's recent, you can contact the phone company said you put in the wrong number and maybe they reversed it if the other person didn't use it yet

Consider yourself lucky, many people have learned the same lesson at a much higher cost.

Remember from now on not to lend money to anyone and move on.

Just don't forget.

200 Baht, report, True, deactivate.

Funny post of the day.

Can you please document the process.

Maybe it helps me to collect my 50000 Baht outstanding "loans"?

What's the percentage for a private debt collector

Wow, how desperate are you to take the time to post this over only 200 baht and also follow up on it, can I send you some food stamps?

He needs the money to support his ex wife.

A nonsensical post has been removed.

OP: there is absolutely nothing you can do about this. True will NOT deactivate the number based on your unsubstantiated claim that there was a promise of repayment.

Learn your lesson and move on. It is very, very common in Thailand for debts to never be paid, especially if the money is owed to a foreigner.

No, he cannot, it wasn't an error.   Strictly speaking, if he did try that he would be committing a (B200) fraud.

Should have topped up B500 and taken it out in trade:coffee1:

In general people that need to borrow money don't have the means to repay it.  Remember that when you 'loan' someone money here.

Besides they probably already used the 200 baht up.

As you mentioned: it's a useless post.

Book it under experience and be happy that you could help somebody who needed your help.🙏

Change your perspective on the whole matter, consider you have given someone a present of 200 Baht and you are pleased to have helped someone and by so doing stay elevated above the situation, that is better than feeling wronged.

Top us someone else phone.

The way this works is that you lose your 200 Thb and don't top up anyones Phone again.

"...this waste of time thread".

Mods: Can you please consider telling 'scorecard' that he's not in charge and other people may have an interest in the thread despite his waste of time comment?   He doesn't have to follow it if he doesn't like it.

You do not have any legal right to diactivate a phone number that do not belong to you due to privacy terms.

If the phone number belongs to you then you can diactivate it at any time.

Pay attention at privacy law because only Police Authorities can break the Law of Privacy under authorized licence of public Prosecutor.

It's a aawinf-up post, akin to an April Fools joke. Harmless.

Let the fun continue. Perhaps not quite in the right forum; the Farang Pub might have been a better place. Moving the topic there now.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
