A Thai hotel owner took to social media to expose the behaviour of a foreign man who stole a key to her hotel in Chon Buri and stayed there overnight without permission or payment.

 

A video of the Thai woman arguing with the foreigner was shared with news Facebook page Social Hunter 2022. The page shared the video yesterday, June 25, with a few words to accompany it.

 

“This foreign man is known as Sam. He used to be a guest of this hotel but this time he stole a room key and stayed without paying. Hotel staff called the police to arrest him on June 24 but no officers arrived. Immigration Bureau officers apprehended Sam the next day and plan to deport him.”

 

Channel 7 reported that the hotel owner and staff tried to make the foreigner leave but he locked the room door and did not respond to their calls until the next morning.

 

 

The hotel owner had to ask permission from a guest staying in the adjacent room to enter and speak with the man on the balcony.

 

In the video, the foreign man is seen on the hotel room balcony defending himself but his words are inaudible. The hotel owner shouted at him in Thai.

 

“I chased you away last night but you didn’t leave. Get out! I’m not okay. I couldn’t sleep all night because of you. What the f*ck is wrong with you! Get out now! I called the police but no one came to arrest you!”

 

Neither the news Facebook page nor Channel 7 clarified how the foreign man stole the key or his motive for the theft.

Sometimes your 'reliance' on telling people to 'read the Op' is boresome...     In these fora the Op often raises more unknowns than it deals with....  In this case the Op is most certainly not a translation of what the woman was screaming.

 

Time for the chap to go back home and focus on getting a job to pay his debts.

If the cops aren't bothered , then maybe no law was broken ( might be a civil thing ) if that is the case why did immigration turn up and why are they going to deport him ?

There was no mention of him overstaying or breaking immigration laws .

I'd say it was pretty accurate. There was one phrase in the middle that I didn't quite catch and there was some repetition but most of it was pretty much spot on.

Why would matter if he prepaid? When you are told to leave by management or owner you must, or it is trespassing.

Can you us show even a single way Thai law differs from US, or UK or any other other jurisdictions in a case of hotel guests asked to leave? We are not on an alien planet here.

Yes, hotels can kick you out, but only under certain circumstances and with proper notice.  One of the circumstances just happens to be... If a guest fails to pay the fees associated with their stay, including room charges, taxes, and any incidental expenses, the hotel may have the right to remove them from the premises.

No idea what happened! All I heard was a hysterical Thai woman throwing a baby tantrum.

as for hotel owner , should go back to the bar where she came from. Takes real intelligence to scream hysterically in a language he would not understand to communicate with him 😂😂😂

While he stayed calm , she ( the hotel owner ) was clearly hysterically overreacting .

She wants him deported for that ? What a xenophobic story again .

Not worth staying in that hotel even for one night .

 

The lassitude of the police seems to be a major issue here.

Does it matter anymore now? Whatever the circumstances theThai woman posted it in social media and got immigration involved. Even if he was in the room legitimately and the woman was screaming insults because he did not leave when asked, he is now considered a problem tourist and will be sent home. The man acts nonchalantly enough as the woman is yelling insults to him. Perhaps he believes he is justifiable to be there. 

How does a foreigner steal a room key and manage to stay there without police intervention? Something in the story does not seem right.

Once the police realized he didn't have money to pay for the room they lost interest.  As he wouldn't have money for them either.

I did not see where the hotel owner was requesting he be deported, rather it was a decision of immigration police. 

If he is destitute then perhaps best to send him home... he is guilty of criminal trespass surely.

Something does not seem right. The Farung. He must have done something very wrong to have  caused the Thai woman to become enraged like that. I never read of somebody kicked out of a hotel or guesthouse except for some outrageous behavior.

 

A Canadian once leased a room into our Condo building years ago I talked to him in the elevator once.

Seems after he moved in he paid  nothing to his Thai landlady, for months.  Although he went out at night and had money enough *apparently for drinking and bringing women to his room. I seen him drinking at old Rama guest house from the street myself. After a few months, there he was in the parking lot. LOOKING COMPLETELY NONCHALANT as his good were loaded in a songthaew with a few cops standing buy. Never to be seen again. Thailand attracts some strange ones

After watching the video the Hotel owner definitely overreacted.

 

Most Thai people have real trouble regulating their emotions, especially when they are faced with a problem to solve.

 

There are proper ways to deal with this kind of situation.

The hotel owner got it completely wrong.
