Must agree about the South Rd..... had the misfortune to need to head from Buakhao to Suk that way recently. It is being worked on though.

Local government only cares,  about how much money goes in there back pockets.

I broke the World record for the 300 metre journey from Suk to 3rd road - 25 minutes.

Too many condos built that overload the subpar infrastructure.... roads may have been adequate 20 years ago, but now... Love those signs in front of construction sites "EIA approved".... just what (supposedly) do they look into regarding "environmental impacte" or is the sign that says "yes we've paid the appropriate officials".... was it 10 years ago or so that the alarm was rung that there was not adequate water for this town? This is at least the third butchering of Jomtien Beach Road and each time they somehow found a way to make worse than before.... a few years back they tried the one way traffic scheme.... did that last a week?

There seems to be not a shred of competence or public service in the death grip rulers of this neck of Thailand

It's good the locals are complaining, since no one else would be listened to. The Russians, Indians , Chinese and the Euro/UK trash are all oblivious to this mess. Yes they have really screwed up Jomtien this time. The only way this area could ever be squared away would be from a special zone  : Naklua, Pattaya, Jomtien to be administered by a select Western group from California, Australia. Because the folks in charge now are lucky if they can tie their shoes every morning

Thai record maybe. Once took 3 hours to do 300m in Jakarta.

I was surprised yesterday along Jomtien beach they still do the Wednesday no chairs or Umbrellas allowed.

 

Plain crazy now we are in peak season, they cut down most of the shady trees so people jostling for the odd bit of shade, while slowly getting sunburn/skin cancer

They take the revenue with open arms but do they put anything back-in or just let the locals do all the work?

Or beach front stabilisation. 

The real money is in doing a s*ht job and the continuing maintenance year after year.

There’s no money in maintenance, that’s why so little is done. The money is in ripping out something that is poorly maintained and starting from scratch. 

There has never been any strategic planning from city hall, it's a bunch of Muppets who have a idea and everyone nods, oh what a good Idea and then the chaos ensues.

 

If it's not the roads, it's the drainage, sewers, cables etc etc

Pattaya must collect billions in tax. It shouldn't be so difficult to remove the holes in the streets and clean up the place.

But I guess the people in charge prefer to buy a couple of more houses and cars for themselves instead. 

Just stop pumping sewerage into the ocean.  No chance I'd swim there ...
