100 percent in.

Snoop is shifting 10x the amount of c'meth as we speak and no one's the wiser.

Brilliant deflection Snoop!

An informant? I could just imagine who that might be as the same thing happened to my nephew when he was a teenager. He had a less amount than the accused here but copped 6 months or his life. He opted for the 6 months and is now happily married with a wife and kids and since has never looked back.

Hats off to the informant in the case of this young man. Crystal meth ruins lives.

warrants are required for routine cases to avoid abuse of power, but exceptions balance this against public safety—e.g., in fast-moving drug scenarios where evidence could vanish in hours.

Indeed, but it's hard to see how that applies in this case. It would have been trivially easy (and arguably more effective in terms of the investigation) for officers to watch the hotel and be ready to act if he tried to leave with the drugs, or if anyone came to his room.

Don't know the law in Thailand but proceeding without a search warrant is allowed?

Nearly everywhere: in case of imminent danger (removal of evidence, commit further offences, etc.) can be carried out a search without a warrant, This can also be subsequently issued.

Has he started writing the inevitable book yet, maybe call it buggered in Bangkok?

Agreed. It would be interesting to know who informed on him, and why.

Probably got caught themselves and grassed him up to save themselves going to jail is usual way.

Power of entry to a hotel room is different to a residence. Hotel staff can enter/allow entry at any time, it’s buried away in the booking conditions.

Yeah but he did get 20k Baht.

Looking on the bright side, he will be fluent in the Thai language in a couple of years.

20000baht is about a monkey (500 quid). And now he stay monkey house for long time. Fool

Buggered for peanuts.

Hahaha yeah instead of Woodstock got lock stock!

I know for some it must appear as a shortcut to a significant amount of easy money, but the consequences of doing this are so severe that one really has to wonder. I don't know about you guys but one of my greatest nightmares is ending up in a prison anywhere in the world, much less in Thailand.

I knew a guy on Samui, who spent about 18 months in the prison there I used to go and visit him. There were about 60 guys sleeping in a room way too small, with no fans and no AC, crappy food and he said if you laid on the floor on your thin mat and you crossed your arms over your chest you could avoid touching the guy laying next to you, that's how bad it was.

Consider writing a book during your 20+ year stay.

Class 1, this amount I'd say min 20 to life behind bars

If he allowed them access to his room then no warrant required.

As he did not speak or read Thai, Police Lieutenant Colonel Phongthanin Bumrungsuksawasti, who speaks English, translated the request.

Bet he will speak and read it by the time he is released---not that it will be any good to him as he will be banned from even visiting here

Dealing in drugs is a no no 😱

No sympathy for this guy who is now going to spend a few years in Jail for

Being greedy 🤑

Brit leaves the room. Staff member enters the room to see if anything worth pinching. Finds the drugs and reports it to the police. Cops a reward for informing on foreigner.

Yours truly, Hercule Poirot.
