New rules issued for visa extensions and visa-exempt entries

Finally got an image of that 7 day extension you get when you've already had a visa exempt entry with a 30 day extension and are on a second visa exempt entry

It is NOT an "application for extension not approved" stamp that gives you a week to get outta Dodge 😮

It's actually a regular "extension of stay permitted until" stamp that is just issued for a week 😛

Here's one from IT Square Laksi Plaza from yesterday

That will inconvenience a lot of people who have flights booked expecting  30 day extension

Damn! So it's looking like a maximum continuous stay of 5 months (per year?) assuming people won't bother with the second extension.

As I'm on my 3rd VE60 with the first 2 already extended, I don't hold out much hope.

Only hope is that it runs out on 1st Jan, and it's a calendar year rule, so they might give me next year's 30 day extension.

Time to look into alternatives 🤔

I had an immigration visit on Sunday, it took about 2 hours.............😬

Some really strange questions for us and our witnesses................🫢

One who spoke great English (but not one of the team) said things are changing, delving deep into farangs relationship with a Thai national, something about actual 'relationship'...........🤔

I think you live in Ubon.  I went to the Ubon office about three months ago in regards to a Non-O visa done in country.  I posted on this forum about my experience and what was told to me.  A lady came out that spoke good English and told me things are changing.  These were her exact words as I posted a few months ago.  I told her fine but I have all the docs and the required financials.  SHe told me it would be 30k to get the visa and not the 3k baht it cost last time I got the visa.  I smiled and left and acquired the visa at another office with no problems.  Weird...

I was told at a border, after a few 60 day crossings, you are not a tourist, you are married to a Thai, get a visa for being married to a Thai.

If you cross the border, we will not let you back in.....🤗

Makes perfect sense. Married to a Thai, you're not a tourist and a marriage visa is the correct visa to have.

What country is this passport? How do we know it's not a VOA that was extended 7 days?

Because that would have been an "application for extension not approved" stamp.

This was a Filipino passport, they were getting an extension on their third visa exempt entry this year.

but need money in the bank to get a marriage visa. To me these immigration things sounds like a trap and why people should get a correct visa if they do not want to stay too much time in thailand? I never get these paranoias by thai immigration

So I guess safe entry services can no longer help someone who already has 2 or more 60 day stamps in their passport this year 😲

I would never waste 1900 thb just for 7 days extension. I would just do a second 60 days visa exemption

give it them the time, gonna change the rules again, as always

Actually safe entry CAN help people

but

it seems they have a "must stay outside the country" xxx days depending on what airport you want you come back thru. Plus they have far more vetting as far as your previous entry stay history and there are restrictions based on country of passport origin as well.

Is it going to be the same price than before? I have four 60 day stamps in my passport (all 2025), and in two weeks have to exit Thailand again 😐

I'm from Finland and the airport will probably be BKK or DMK

So it looks like 2 VEEs are allowed per year. The next problem is - how many days do they require to stay outside the country before reentering ? 1,2,3, or more ? And will they give 60 or 30 days ?

I have entered by Air to thailand 5 times this year by air.  First of the year by air used up 60 day. Then a land run + 30 day extension. .Then returned to my country UK. July returned to bkk with a couple of in and out of bkk to hk.  Returned to uk in aug.  Came back to bkk and another short trip to sg in oct.  Now back in bkk. I am wondering will i get 30 days extension or do i need to go out by and in by air again?  Ive been using safe entry

We do not have a minimum amount of days out of country for our FastTrack + Prescreen services, and we service BKK, DMK, and HKT.

Just make sure to book them before you board your flight, ideally at least 1 day notice.

Thailand want people with money, so? That’s the terms when you visit, you have enough liquids to live here and spend. No country wants poor tourists.

As I said when they implemented the 60 days where you could extend 30. visitors starts abusing the system, and new rules appears. Give and take

Incorrect. My friend just used "safe entry" for his fourth 60 day visa-exempt entry this year. No issues whatsoever.

You stay 60 days every time or you come and go with weeks or months between? Just wondering if you where working offshore on a schedule 2 weeks on and 4 weeks off, you could theoretically come and go 8 times a year, but still be a tourist with an holiday home for an instance.

Do you have any restrictions on entry history in Thailand or on passport country that Tod mentioned?

Just the usual limitations tied to your passport’s country, such as those applied to countries in conflict or considered higher risk.

These are the same service conditions that have always been in place.

Excellent, that will be great to know for many who have been worried.

Reminds me of the visa clampdown 2014 to 2015...

And what did most of the Expat posters on this forum who had long-term O visas in 2014 to 2015  do when they cracked down on the border runners?.....

Many many gloated because they had a better visa and posted endlessly THROW THE BUMS OUT.....But the O visa loudmouths got real quiet when the O visa money requirements were tightened up...

I did border runs to get 60 day visas non stop for a number of years back then before I turned 50....

The under 50s have had it rough in Thailand for a long time...They have had a break for a few years....Now I guess the tide has turned against the under 50s again....

Well it does not appear that hundreds of people are being denied entry comin' in today because of their previous entry/stay history.

All I can find (after scouring the tiny section of the inter-web that is thai related 😛) is people who were "questioned" but let in anyway
AND
Those b/s agents/agencies who were spouting off that it was going from 60 back to 30 days were also WRONG,

Here's a Suvarnabhumi entry stamp from early this morning. 60 day entry and the same stamp code since when they went from 30 to 60 back on July 15th 2024 - .60-.17

Has anyone been denied entry so far? Especially at the chiang mai Airport?

I don't think you understand.

You apply for a 30 day extension, but they refuse, and you're instead given a 7 day extension to pack up and leave the Country.

I just read on your website that 'the clock will be reset on 1st Jan 2026' in regards to the number of entries allowed per year. Does this mean that all 2025 entries will be disregarded by Thai immigration? 🤔
