My favorite part of that article:

The government is also hoping to procure 5 to 10 doses of Pfizer vaccines to meet its immunization target by the end of this year, PM Prayut Chan-o-cha had said earlier on April 20.  (sic)

I blame the trolling press, not the government.

Expatriates could seek documents from their embassies, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration or provincial health offices to prove their long stay in the country and then seek the vaccination, Dr Opas said. (TNA)

Exactly. What the hell do our embassies have to do with it? Our 1 year extensions from THAILAND (aka Land Of Stoopid) should be all they need to prove "long stay" status. Morons.

And what if me as a farlang does not want to be vaccinated ?

I would advise not registering to get the vaccine or volunteer for the placebo or go down to Kaosan Rd and get the saline solution which comes with a vaccine certificate of your choice. If antibody testing was offered to see if previously infected then a certificate was issued pertaining to this it could be used in leu of a vax certificate.I see the vax passport has taken a backseat lately.

If I'm offered a Chinese vaccine they're not going to like what they hear when I respond and I certainly won't be holding back.

Why so much anger every day on this subject!??

In our predominantly middle-class circle of acquaintances and family, predominantly Bangkok and, due to my wife's job, Rayong, I can report that almost everyone is waiting for Moderna, BionTech & Co.
Of course, what I am reporting here is rather anecdotal, but I wouldn't be surprised if this current finding were to become more frequent if we were to open a new thread on TV about it ...

Why would people choose to wait for a vaccine that hasn't been approved yet for Thailand, may not even be imported into Thailand in any great volume, wont be part of any widespread public free vaccine program. If/when it is possibly imported, will only be available via some private hospitals for a fee.

I'm seriously interested how/why people have come to this decision, given that whole countries, UK, Australia etc have chosen the AZ vaccine (its about to be approve in the US). Is it based on an expert knowledge of vaccines', a perception that moderna is a better vaccine, it costs more so it must be better ?

My source defined them as retirees and expats from USA, UK, Europe, Australia.

When typing in that question in Google, the top entry gives me those answers.

Having registered in person with my local Health Centre, easily Completed excellent interaction with local staff, about time many here become more positive. We all know what should happen but we are guests, do try to be more positive .

Good luck for you. I tried yesterday at our local center and they said no, maybe in November or December. Looks like they are the same as Immigration having their own local rules.

For Flip-flop's Sake guys.

At least get your story straight!

Holy Lexus, that's a relief.

Russia just announced a new version of Sputnik, it's called Sputnik Light and it is a one shot vaccine.

Putin was interviewed on RT and has said it is safer than a kalishnokof, he said I didn't say this a European vaccine specialist has said this.

Testing has been done on sputnik, lancet has issued 2 papers which say Sputnik is the safest vaccine available.

Russia will make the one shot version available to the rest of the world.

I hope the Thai private hospitals will be able to offer a range of vaccines.

It was also quoted on RT that the cost of the Sputnik dose would be less than $10.00 US.

Using the private hospitals would take a load off, and stop expats wandering around from getting infected and re-infecting vunerable Thais.

I have already raised the same objections.
It seems to be a question of lack of trust (SinoVac, BS) and yes people would be willing to pay for the vaccine of their choice.
This is a snapshot, let's wait and see how the pandemic develops here and the willingness to take up a possibly more timely vaccination appointment with whichever vaccine increases accordingly ...

New Zealand is not using Astra, it is using Pfizer.

A full transcript of just exactly what the government spokeswoman said at the English language news briefing earlier today is posted here:

For anyone keeping count, there have now been three different public statements by the government at various points since February confirming that foreign nationals in Thailand WILL be included in the government's COVID vaccinations program.

AFAIK, the Bangkok Post  report the other day by a different official was an aberration. And I believe, there was some confusion in it between the issue of foreigners NOT being included in the current first phase of targeted vaccinations (which is correct), versus the policy all along to include foreigners in the general public second phase starting June and thereafter.

Exactly. The government has said all along that foreigners would be included in due course.

It is the falang interpretation that has been inconsistent.

People may not agree with the prioritisation, but that has been the case in every country. There is a saying about pleasing people.

Due to the Lancer, Oxford Russian Sputnik and Chinese Sinovac are the most effective. Astra might cause problems for those who have blood-related problems. The rest are practically good. Thailand will import Russian and Astra as far as I know.

I have read at least five different news on the subject of foreign vaccination. Astonishingly, the hospital here is well informed. Whenever I read the actual daily news, they knew the next day information, which was quite opposite.

The first phase began in February and will be ongoing until the end of May ... the Thai government’s first priority is to vaccinate ... the elderly, those with underlying health conditions and those living within high risk zones.

Well that sounds like a lot of the expats living in Pattaya, Bangkok and Chiang Mai, so why are we being left until the

second group starting next month (though in July or August more probably, if even then)?

The vaccines have all been approved under emergency orders.  Several will be getting full FDA approval from the US shortly.  Millions and millions have been jabbed with no serious consequences.  Especially if compared to the deaths by the virus.

It's our only way out of this mess.  We're all in this together.

Having taught English at one of the major universities in Bangkok, it gives me optimism to hear a Thai national speak such perfect uninflected precise North American English. She is an inspiration to other Thais.

A hospitalized Covid 19 infected Thai will cost money, while a hospitalized foreigner infected with Covid 19 will generate a profit! With this in mind, why even consider to vaccinate any foreigners before all Thais have received the vaccine?????????????
