ok.. one of my favorites...

a washed pot never boils...

Does it boil if you watch it instead of washing it?

Bangsaen beach was open at least last weekend with swimming allowed etc. just no restaurants. 30 min drive from Bangkok, nice spot to go chill at the beach on a Sunday afternoon. Not many people so easy to keep a distance to other people.

sage advice

Just don't leave your phone at home..you'll find Grab Food has been depleting your linked account.

My Thai gf loves to watch Thai movies which bores me to tears. She doesn't like going for drives as I drive too fast according to her I don't really ist just she drives very slow). Before 3rd wave I wanted to go a few places. No, too far, no, too many people, no...., no. Only cooks for herself and the bedroom work is rapidly diminishing. She is good at spending money. Why am I with her? Stupid I guess.

It's six of one or a dozen of the other...

I use to say that to mean things were NOT the same... nobody ever acknowledge it as not being the proper saying..

Either they didn't think it was funny or just thought it was stupid... or I was stupid... mostly I think people just don't listen...

ps - I know why you might wash a pot, but why would you watch it? Live and let live, I say.

If she cares enough to come stay with you as she thinks you are bored, ask her !!!

Ensure the internet is paid up & batteries changed.

Have fun !!!

The parks are all closed.

No they aren't, North Park off Vibahwadi Road is open for walking, biking and Running. And maybe your girl doesn't like to walk/run but my wife and others do it every day both here in Bangkok or when we are in Pattaya.  She also does yoga , just turned 47

You need an activity that you both enjoy doing that will carry the relationship forward.

Hiking, bowling, golfing, kayaking, baking, running, gardening, traveling, diving, camping. Touring Thailand and neighboing countries to see all the best temples.

Teach her a skill of some sort.

You shouldn't ask a poor person to give their time to other poor people. She should elect to do it of her own Accord and would voluntarily do it without you. Volunteering will be problematic for you.

Try to plan an activity you can both do together once a day. Start with the simple things like a river cruise, visiting some out of the way place in Bangkok, a picnic etc. I'm sure there must be plenty of things to do in Bangkok that don't involve spending hours in the hot sun.

Maybe you should plan the activities for the first three days, but make it clear she will have to be proactive and research and come up with activities each alternative day after that.

It's not good enough for her to say 'up to you' and be passive. If she can't do this then maybe she should go back home after 4 or 4 days. Just treat it like a short holiday.

I’ve probably phrased the question wrong

we have both recognized that in our relationship in the past, we wasted time not doing a great deal and that maybe we should do do “things”

we talked about volunteering at an orphanage, but they dont allow people in during the lockdown. Maybe we can help handing out food somewhere

I’ve got a dodgy volunteer visa, I might as well earn my keep

I don't think being able to hang out together is "wasting time." Lots of people can't do that comfortably. After she gets here let her get acquainted with the local noodle sellers or whatever. If she's from one of the Northeast provinces she'll have an advantage because of speaking the language. There may not be much you can do until the pandemic is over, but since you're comfortable together it shouldn't be too bad.

What's your point? Most of these activities do not require large amounts of money. You're making excuses.

Unwillingness to start over again perhaps?  Not sure mate, but it is a bad time to try dating again in the current situation.

Go 10-pin bowling. All the Thai girls I've met in Bangkok have never tried it, and it is always a lot of fun because she can order food and drinks to the lane.

Or try go-karting at RCA plaza.

If you need advice on things to do in Bangkok, you must have your head in the sand. There's so much to do and see.

Failing that, take her to soi 4 and ask her to find a girl that she finds attractive.

Disagree,

Thaifriendly is packed with young women looking to meet foreign pensioners.

I've never experienced anything like it before.

I'd think it would be easier to meet people online, but harder to connect in a traditional manner as the OP is having issues finding activities to do with the closures.

You gotta move with the times ..........

As for activities, they usually suggest I meet them at a short-time hotel.

We then proceed to partake in an extremely traditional male/female activity.

Tried, but stopped when I got to 68 (BJ) and said I would owe her one!

Isn't the number of that position out by one?

If you have ever had a Thai girlfriend or wife you would know how important food is to them.  Halfway through their 4th meal of the day they are already planning the 5th and 6th.  It's pretty impressive.

yes so true  people normally snack between meals my wife eats between snacks..if they put eating as a category in the Olympics my other half would certainly get Gold
