PHUKET: Patong Police have arrested a group of 12 people, including Thais and foreigners, for sitting and drinking together on the Patong beachfront on Friday night (May 14).

 

Officers arrested the dozen perpetrators for illegally gathering in contravention of the provincial order issued to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across the island, and for drinking alcohol in a public area.

 

Police reported that three Thai ladyboys were arrested, along with five Thai women and three foreign men. In making the arrests, police seized two bottles of Thai liquor, two items of foreign brands of beer, two bottles and eight cans of Thai beer, four bottles of wine coolers and four bottles of soda water.

More Thais were arrested than foreigners...so maybe it's to let them know this won't be tolerated?

You can't fix stupid. Will they do an IQ test together with that swab test...

Been here 2 months already and it's very relaxing...just follow a few simple and widely posted PANDEMIC control restrictions like large social gatherings in public and consuming alcohol in groups. Is that SO hard? (All you alcoholics...just drink at home.) 

 

 

As they say they will open up on July 1st will they remove all these restrictions or what?

I would assume most of them...that's the whole purpose of the vaccine program. All these members making silly posts about arresting foreigners socializing after the reopening are assuming the restrictions are still in place. I think some people are having a hard time remembering pre-pandemic life. An example of what "herd immunity" in a largely vaccinated population is what we see starting in the US and UK...mask restrictions, restaurant capacity limits, Disneyland restrictions, and the like all being removed.

Numbers add up to 11 individuals, not 12, but then they were perpetrators and you have to wonder if one was not the informant.
