Popular Post webfact
File photo for reference only//REUTERS/Lisi Niesner French nationals in Thailand who are aged over 55 will be able to receive a COVID-19 vaccine free of charge via the French Embassy in Bangkok. On Monday (June 21), the French Ambassador to Thailand, Thierry Mathou announced that the French Embassy has partnered with private hospitals in Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Ko Samui, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, and Udon Thani to provide free vaccinations to some French nationals living in Thailand. Those aged over 55 will be eligible to receive the vaccine. The vaccine will be the single dose Johnson & Johnson which is approved for use in France and also in Thailand. More details, including the dates the vaccines will be available, as well as which hospitals will be administering the vaccines, will be announced on the embassy website soon. Mr Mathou said the vaccination campaign implemented by the French Embassy in Thailand is “unprecedented”, not only in Thailand but across France's network embassies around the world. Earlier this month, Mr Mathou met with Thailand’s Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul to request permission to import 10,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-06-22 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 34

Seriously, the British Embassy should get off their backsides and arrange something similar for UK expats. You might think that they would be shamed into doing something but I guess that the chances of anything happening are slim to none! 26 2

Popular Post tonray
The trend had been quite clear ever since the suspension of the 'Income Verification" letters. The US/UK/AUS....couldn't give a hoot about their citizens abroad. 39

Looks like they will be importing the vaccine themselves, possibly coming in by a French Attaché with a courier crate. I would think that in order to ensure it is done as greed upon they would then need to send a representative to each of the hospitals partnered up with and with the vaccine in hand on the day of the vaccination jab to ensure the French Nationals get the J&J and not sinovac....just my view 10

Popular Post Aforek
Good for me and the other French people; if they can do it, it's that it's possible; I imagine the Thais are happy, they won't have to take care of this 10 days ago, some people here said that it was windy, that it would never work; you should never speak in advance, when you don't know 4

I was one of the folk stating that it would not work and that they were grandstanding. And now (above) am more than happy to applaud them. 8

Popular Post mtls2005
So much for the "How could it be done?" argument. Easy, import the vaccine and pay Thai hospitals to administer it. I will gladly pay for both the vaccine and a cover charge for the Thai hospital.

When i said it before all the Brits were laughing saying the French would never do it. Seems they are far more competent then the Brits. (and Dutch for that matter). Maybe next time wait before making anti French jokes when they clearly outperformed the UK in this. 7

How many have they vaccinated in Thailand? Is the J&J already in the country? At home they seem to be lagging well behind the UK wrt vaccinations.
