The centre will be used, along with the “Mor Prom” and “Mor Chana” apps, to track the movements of foreign tourists on Phuket

Makes one feel welcome right from the beginning ....

100000 visitors in the first three months, generating 9 billion! They really are completely mad.

The only people using this ludicrous system will be those long term residents and visitors who think that being imprisoned on an island for 2 weeks, to allow them entry to Thailand, is better than being imprisoned in an ASQ hotel room in Bangkok.

I read where the tourist board said "non spouses" can visit you in your hotel room. If true, what the hell is their justification in tracking the vaccinated tourist and not the unvaccinated "non spouse"? We know it is about money but what is their official excuse for this ...martial music please ....Command Center?

i wonder if gps tracker has an in-built heart rate monitor, in case of emergency's.

Some will pop a few viagras but no girls available, or someone finds a girl and when she quotes him latest prices, many may have a heart attack

All run on pirate windows XP no doubt...

Also, they have to use an app, so would want to use their mobile just for the app and pay expense roaming fees from their home mobile provider.. I'm sure they won't go and get a local sim card just for tracking purpose, I know I wouldn't, I would just keep my phone off and tell them I don't have a smart phone.

What happened to the much laughed about wristband trackers?

Delayed delivery along with vaccines, for non payment?

OH! no have phone ok you go next plane home

to track the movements of foreign tourists on Phuket, in an effort to control the spread of COVID-19.

Should be tracking the citizens.  Nothing like Big brother following every move even when you go to the <deleted>ter to take a dump.  If you stay to long inside the alarm bells will go off and a tactical unit of black clad masked men will be searching for you and locking you back in your room where the hidden cameras can keep an eye on you and they can use the x-ray view to see how much moneys left in your wallet.  Oh yes this post is definitely full of sarcasm.

Why do they believe that fully vaccinated tourists who have been tested and found negative are spreading covid 19 and need to be followed.  How utterly ridiculous.

This is all going to end in tears.... ????

You can imagine what this folly costs!

A few weeks on a deserted island does sound nice though.

The remaining 30% are ornamental lampposts which will be delivered soon.

Baa Baa Baa .. Yep how many shepherds per Falang .. Herding it’s called 55555

let us understand the movement of the visitors Thais or farangs  in  Phuket.

1. they paid for 14 day stay at a hotel- they won't leave the hotel

2. they can't go visiting other islands- the tours are not running

3. very few restaurant are opened. and no bar girls are available either

4. buses , trains and airplane are not going to take them to Bangkok. just have to look at their entry  visa and make sure 14 days are elapse.

Mostly they will either be around the pool or in a hotel chair on the beach. they will eat their food in the hotels and perhaps go to a nearby open restaurant. ..some might go shopping at Phuket city ..and that is about it. The rest of the time be locked in the room watching TV.

7 days is  tolerated but 14 days is quite boring.

Will be very interesting to see what actual visitor numbers will be, l am guessing zero to   a few 100.

Well, at least it's not called Command Centre Phuket!

They probably believe that in their respective countries, it's like in Thaïland: Just need to buy the paper stating you are fully vaccinated ! ????
Actually, I believe, it is made to show to the Thais how serious, efficient & protective they are. When are the next elections ?
