Thailand on Tuesday (June 29) reported 4,662 new COVID-19 cases and 36 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

● 4,652 new infections
● 10 prison / prison infections

Tuesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 254,515 with 1,970 deaths.
(Total infections since April 1: 225,652)

The news comes as Thailand’s Public Health Ministry announced the results of a real world study of the efficacy of the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine conducted in Thailand, showing that two doses of the vaccine are highly efficacious in the prevention of infection and death from the Alpha (UK) variant of COVID-19, at 71-91%.

The only problem with  his statement is that only 2% of the population has received those 2 doses, and it doesn't look like that number gonna increase in the near future

The good news is that 2793 beds have been vacated, no idea how many of those are hospital Covid beds.

  • Popular Post

This may sound strange with 4,642 community transmissions but I think this is the calm before the storm. They said about 80,000 workers in camps in BKK. How many got out before being locked into the covid cages where if they didn't have covid chances are they would get it and how far have those that got out travelled and how many of these are infectious. The coming days will tell the story.

Mmmm? Interesting logic. I would think that the number of beds being freed up would have to be greater than the number going in to be good news.

It's not crazy to think all visas will require COVID negative tests or vax shots ....... probably need shots every year for life.....

3 shots at 4000 baht each.............12,000 baht

tests..................................................................1500 each

have fun and get your wallets ready!!!!!!

let the good times roll......

The bad news is they are all hot beds.Hot beds are those that are filled immediately plus 1800 new beds need to be found.

But then filled with today's numbers and yes who knows where.

The chances are they will test and re test all the locked in Workers in the Camps in a similar fashion as the lock in factories in Samut Sakhon a while back.

This is completely the wrong way to test, as the Virus is loose in Communities, Factories and offices now.

These are the places that need the saturated testing.

Who in their right mind with cases continuing upward  would jump through any hoops for a 2 week vacation when lockdowns in Bangkok and other provinces to help with the covid cases would deter them? Surely a few diehard folks and people who live here might.

It's not good news if you don't know how many beds have been newly occupied. It's like saying it's good news that your company has taken in 1 million dollars without acknowledging what expenditures are.

And thefar more important number is whether more or less critical care beds are being occupied.

Pfizer, Moderna COVID-19 vaccines likely offer long-lasting protection, study finds

Seems like being in prison for the next 3 months waiting for those good vaccines may be safer then the skytrain or walking around a mall.

Against which future variants?

Pfizer and Moderna Vaccines Likely to Produce Lasting Immunity, Study Finds

"After an infection or a vaccination, a specialized structure called the germinal center forms in lymph nodes. This structure is an elite school of sorts for B cells — a boot camp where they become increasingly sophisticated and learn to recognize a diverse set of viral genetic sequences.

The broader the range and the longer these cells have to practice, the more likely they are to be able to thwart variants of the virus that may emerge."

Zero cases in Phuket yesterday...haven't seen today's breakdown yet ????????????

But that does not answer my question of which variants and how well. It has now been clearly shown that COVID variants do affect immunity.

There are also other factors such as Original Antigenic Sin.

(no that does not refer to the Wuhan Lab ... )

Isn't OAS about revaccination?

Look like the AstraZeneca is just a B level vaccine compared to the more innovative US vaccines.

So in comparison the AZ vaccine is a B list celebrity or Pornstar, while the Others are A-listers and no wonder why the Hi-So's flew to the US to get vaccinated just like many of the doctors here I know.

Actually, the Pfizer vaccine is a German creation. And if you take account of the national origins of its creators, a Turkish-German creation.

Sorry, the article is behind a pay wall, but that does not matter.  The above sentence implies my question is very valid. Which future variants. Why?

Because SARS2 is new to humans. It is therefore making major adaptive changes to better attack humans, and to evade immune system defences. It is not currently driven by antigenic drift.

The researchers will need to step up to the plate and address such questions.

Ok then credit where credit is due Germany. But then why is the production in the US if the research was in Germany ? But anyway the top vaccines are made in the US.
