I was never expecting crappy fast food joints to become THE reason to visit Pattaya.......

  • Gotta rank higher than visiting for the nightlife !!

I wish them well and must presume they have a good deal on rent. RGP is as dead as a doornail now and the last couple of times I have passed through there big names like Svennsons had mothballed the business for lack of customers. They might tick over at weekends when Pattaya gets visitors from other provinces.

Finally, a reason to visit pattaya

I have gone a few times in Bangkok it is the same as McD's, BK, etc. western pricing..  I like it though not many places to find a quick burrito/taco.

I wanted Taco Bell to come to Thailand for many years,But I was let down by a few things about Thailand Taco Bell.....

1.....No beans.........My favorite thing from Taco Bell are Bean Burritos.....A mexican food restaurant that does not serve beans is just strange...(Not a single bean to be found on Taco Bell Thailand's menu)....

2...Taco Bell Thailand is on the expensive side for fast food  https://tacobell.co.th/thailand-en/#menu  compared to Taco Bell USA which is CHEAP.....

Plus Pattaya finally has some decent even very good Mexican food these days.....

I hope you guys will be posting some Taco Bell food reviews....I will be posting some in the next week or so.....

Perhaps they want to get it rolling with delivery...

They have deep pockets and the Thais seem to love them...

Mmm, I miss the BKK Taco Bells up here in Issan, as you can see from my avatar. Closest I can get are kebabs in the market, which aren't too bad.

Get a 60 baht chicken kebab anywhere and forget Taco Bell. Disaster.

Or buy mama noodles from lazada and stay home

I ate there tonight with my son, he liked it but I thought it was overpriced and bland. Aprox 200 baht for a combo meal that wasn't all that filling. Lot's of other places to spend 200 baht on a delicious filling meal.

Plus it's a small place with a limited number of available tables and there were a number of farangs that clearly already finished their meal but still sat around taking up tables while checking their phones, or having a long drawn out conversation.

Too expensive and not tasty. For the same price you can get restaurant food although with a bit waiting time.

I fully admit that I am not that up to speed with Mexican fast food, but i rather had the impression that a "burrito" was some kind of donkey! Do you eat them? I have to say that is not awfully sporting!

Burro means donkey, so I expect it means a small one......

We've got one in Nonthaburi (Central Westgate) but I've never been there....Taco Bell has the 'late night, cheap junk after night out drinking' connotation from my youth...nothing special.

Just don't read the ingredient list and you will be ok...

Taco Bell Bean Burrito

You've got people who have never seen a taco in their lives making them for you. It may resemble the pic on the wall but that's about it. I'll try it the next time in patts just to see how bad they are.

No lie eh !
I remember sitting in the restaurant of a 5 star hotel in Dubai and saw they had "Tom Kha Gai" (Spicy coconut chicken soup) on the menu so I ordered it. Could barely get 3 spoon fulls down before giving up. It tasted like c r a p .

But I realized it was a Thai dish, probably made by an Indian cook, reading an English recipe, in a restaurant in the Middle East.

In Afghanistan (on the base in Kandahar) we had Nepalese "cooks" making Subway sandwiches, Burger King meals and Pizza Hut pizzas. A lot easier for them as all their ingredients came direct from the US (so no substitutions) and no real skill involved in the preparation.
Nepalese cooks preparing American "food" in Afghanistan for (Canadian/Australian/UK/American/Romanian/other nations) troops.

Taco Bell will be one of those "try it once" places for most people. A novelty. When the tourists come back (eventually) a lot of Americans will live there (or shuffle between there and the nearest McDonalds which is very near by).

I've tried the Mexican at some other "Mexican" restaurants and wasn't overly impressed. Certainly wasn't worth recommending and barely worth a second try (after a pause of 2 or so years).

Same for some of the German restaurants here. Used to be a good one right near the #2 Road/Pattaya Tai intersection, but it closed an is now an Indian restaurant. I've tried a couple other places and the only thing that tasted "German" was the Potato and Cherry Schnapps.

I'm sure Taco Bell will spark a memory or two the first time I try it, just as I'm sure I probably won't go back again for a long, long time afterwards.

TB, like kebabs, are for late night post-drinking or post smoking your favorite herb. It's not "cuisine". Unfortunately the price in LOS is approaching that territory.

(Yeah, I know 200฿ is not really cuisine territory)

For a change from daily bland English breakfasts and roast dinners, it's a welcome option.

Tried it yesterday.

Next train to blandtown, stopping at overpriced, tasteless and crowded.

I hear the burritos are bland and disappointing, sounds like one of those places you have to also eat before or after

Many of their meal deals are pushing 200 baht.....Come-on.......Loads of places offer much better and more food for that price....

Heck just right next door is Burger King that had a Whopper on sale for 99 Baht for many many months recently....

And Sizzler is right next door too...Whos salad bar is under 200 baht...

Need I go on....

Having grown up on the east coast of the US, I've had plenty of real Mexican food to compare and Taco Bell isn't even in the same universe.

Doubt you've actually ever eaten any.

Still, much better than the boring McDonald rubbish.
