I think that it will be really hard to enforce. If you want a walk you just say your going shopping. I normally don't really get out that much besides shopping. But i don't understand why you have to keep inside outside in the open air is not a danger.

If your alone it's ok but if there are people around it's not. This an airborne, fleeting contact transmission which is 3 times more infectious than the original. Yes, inside is worse but you are NOT safe because you are outside.

the new record will be every day, by some 1k more positives, for the next 3-4 months.

what really counts are deaths

.

wait, where is signed moderna contract and why government contracted only 3mln doses of AZ per month?

They need to ease up on the testing otherwise this game is going to spiral way out of control.

So much for that statement a year ago claiming Covid will fly away with the wind ! I fear that this time next week we will hit the 20,000 mark and the deaths will multiply each day . Not enough vaccines not enough testing and what’s worse all those in power hiding behind closed doors to frightened to come out and face the public

Of course your not 100% safe but if you wear a mask and keep sufficient distance its not that much of a risk. However that is something you have to make your own decisions about. I have nothing to do outside besides shopping so you won't see me outside. But i can imagine some people will go crazy being locked up all the time.

NEW HIGH: Chonburi Public Health Office has just announced they have 660 new cases and two more deaths. Most new cases are in Chonburi City (93), Bang Lamung/Pattaya (167), and Si Racha (217). The total cases so far is now 15,375 with 6,308 remaining in care #Thailand

Further details:

660 is a new record high for cases in the province, but only one more case than yesterday. However, 227 people were also released and recovered yesterday in Chonburi.

This makes a total of 15,375 cases of Covid-19 in the current round of infections, with 6,308 still under medical care/supervision, and with a total of 78 recorded deaths in Chonburi since the start of this recent round of infections in early April. The details on yesterday’s deaths were not given, which is standard for the health department.

Additionally, 8,989 people in total have now been released from medical care and recovered in Chonburi since this current wave began.

Paving the way for far stricter lockdown measures as the numbers punched above 11K. Not a welcome sight to keep setting new highs.

11,397 positive cases today with 318 of those from prisons, 101 deaths

Rolling 7 day average (up to 16th July only) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases.

data 18 july.png

data 18 july 2.png

The Infection figure for both the Total Infections and the Prison Infections would have been so much higher had nearly 3000 prisoners in Chang Mai Central Prison not made a miraculous recovery after taking some Herbal Concoction or another.

Anutin in his letter says he expects AZ to increase supplies from SBS to 10 million a month. So it seems he’s pressing AZ to to siphon off vaccine contracted to go to TL’s neighbors to make up the number, rather than TL imposing an export ban. Some very tough negotiations ahead.

An interesting and probably needed move, but one that's unlikely to change the trajectory of the country's COVID crisis, unless there's significantly more forthcoming.

It would be great to know those added measures for Chonburi.

Why don't you try reading about them on page 2?They are the new measures for dark red zones in the breaking news item.

Yes, because they know that if the number is not in the headline, there's no possible way anybody can ever find out the actual figures - oh, hang on a minute ...

Also this is not "the media" - this is an online discussion forum.

Wow. You are 0 for 2.

1. Most people, across the globe, read ONLY headlines.

2. Forums ARE INDEED media.

The other day, Reuters had a report on Vietnam sourcing an additional 20 million Pfizer doses for this year, supposedly bringing their total for the year to a planned 47 million Pfizer doses.

In that report, the Viet government said they'd be interested in working with Pfizer on technology transfer including possibly opening a Pfizer vaccine plant in Vietnam!

"Vietnam is also working with Pfizer on possible vaccine technology transfer or placing a Pfizer vaccine plant in the country, it said."

https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/vietnam-says-pfizer-provide-additional-20-mln-covid-19-vaccine-doses-2021-07-14/

I'm wondering.... does Thailand need AZ more, or does AZ need Thailand more?  TH's not the only potential player in this league.

Meanwhile, can you imagine what 47 million Pfizer doses could do for Thailand's laggard vaccination program???

'Does Thailand need AZ anymore? '

You bet it does.  Sorry to ask, but what on earth came over you to ask such a crazy question?

I can't see much difference between the new restrictions and what we already have in Bangkok. People can still go out for "essential" reasons, so buying food and going to work (assuming you can't work from home) are still allowed.

It is not entirely clear if those restrictions are for all dark red zones, or merely the greater Bangkok area.

To be clear, the curfew will be imposed in Chonburi, but the restrictions in Bangkok on sit down dining May not apply in Chonburi, I don’t know.

You can discover that yourself later when those numbers are published but considering they've stopped testing in construction camps where over 30,000 migrants are locked up then I'd say thats a good bet

Migrant workers are not locked up any more on many of the major sites - if you look past the closed shutters you can see work has restarted at many.

Too costly to close down a major project, and common people don't have a stake in shopping mall developments, so they don't stay closed for long.  The rich need to continue getting richer for the good of the global economy.????

But on the other hand at least it means the workers are being paid again - so the trickle down economy allows a few crumbs to fall from the table.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, the PM also ordered the armed forces and police to join teams from City Hall to help carry out door to door COVID-19 testing for people located in the areas of Bangkok worst affected by the virus.

Lateral flow tests provide a quick result, using a device similar to a pregnancy test and are intended for use in those without symptoms, according to the UK NHS. PCR tests are mainly used when people have coronavirus symptoms or have already had a positive lateral flow result, and are sent to laboratories to be checked. The NHS suggests people do a lateral flow test twice a week to check if they have the virus.

Is Thailand using Lateral Flow Testing ?
