Baht up 10 Satang today on USD and even Euro.  When someone dumps USD into Thailand (billions), it would raise the Baht.  Conversely if someone dumps Baht into another country, it would also jack up the Baht.  The vast majority of international monetary transactions are done in USD.

So 10 satang is a trouncing. Got it.

The chart from New Year (when we actually left) is more relevant:

No. It's a short term variation among other similar short term variations which occurred previously (see graph). It doesn't change the medium-term trend,

Currently it's 45 To The Pound Mate NOT 40 !!!

I note from your other posts on this topic and the heavy emphasis [NOT 40 !!!] that you are pedantic by nature. My 40/40 comment was a generalisation, my apologies if it offended you or made the gist of my post unclear. Suck it up mate.

I've seen very little inflation in LOS in the 10 years I've lived here. My rent is the same as when I signed the lease 5 years ago. If anything I could get it cheaper now.

Food prices are surging recently....

Yes many are haggling down rents as owners know they cannot find new tenants, and I certainly spend less each month as I haven't bought a lady-drink, or been in a bar for a long time.... so a mixed bag.

Where are they surging?  Is this a Pattaya specific phenomenon?  I buy a lot of imported food (cheeses/sardines/almonds/steaks) with the exception of TGM deli meats, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Japanese Cucumbers, Chicken, etc etc etc. and I’m not seeing anything budge upwards.  In fact, most of what I eat now seems to be perpetually on sale.  With the Happyfresh delivery service coupon on top of the already discounted prices from Tesco, Big C and Gourmet Market, food is cheaper than it was 10 years ago for me.

Food and service prices are surging due to big disruptions on the Thai supply side. Manufacturing (domestic and exports) and food production are now severely disrupted due to Covid, or at least the PCR-testing finding 'cases' and clusters among factory workers and staff.

Expect inflation and impacts (shortages) of goods presently.

Even on the Thai wet markets food prices are going up, A few more have been closed in the Banglamung area to get cleaned up too.

Talking about stretching for a story. They are talking about The Asia region, yet quoting the yen and AUD. The PHP has performed about even with the THB all year, and currently nearly exactly at the same exchange rate it was at in January, and the last 3 months it has been very evenly matched.

The quote in the report about Tourism is absurd:

"Tourism decline hits Thailand

Still, the Asian currency’s underperformance this year cannot be solely blamed on the Covid pandemic, considering that the impact of the delta variant on the rest of the region is “far more dismal,” Varathan said.

Varathan pointed out the sharp decline in tourism numbers has actually multiplied the “Covid devastation” on Thailand’s economy."

For starters, tourism has not been in decline since the pandemic started. It has been totally absent. Suggesting that tourism decline has increased the "devastation" is absurd - It's one of the main reasons for the "devastation". Wake up Varathan, tourist across the globe has been cancelled out, just incase you were unaware. These people seem to live in a very small bubble.

I have not noticed an increase in prices of most if not all items that I buy. Milk and other dairy products are the same, as is my meat, chicken and fish. At the 7Eleven everything is the same price as it has been for over a year. I'm saving money due to the number of sales on imported items at the major supermarkets.

Note: I don't go to wet markets, but the big supermarkets are able to keep prices stable with bulk buying, whereas a wet market vendor might not be able to.
