  • So fake news works both ways?   If only that were true. This case will go nowhere but fair play to K.Atchariya for pointing out these mistruths. I wish him all the best.

You can but hope that a new government would remove that immunity and backdate it 5 years. Unfortunately the way they have fiddled the voting MP restructuring, they are pretty free for life

Fake News Anutin - camera angles responsible for apparent huge crowds at Bang Sue ( BS called on this statement)

Guess what, Bang Sue has even more people desperately seeking vaccines there today than yesterday. Every route into Bang Sue has been at a virtual standstill since mid morning. I have a perfect view from my condo window and no camera angles required to see traffic into the station and parked cars are chock full.

Don't you know who I am?

MPs have immunity from prosecution during the parliamentary session and for anything they say in parliament.  I am not sure if ministers have blanket immunity,

I suppose we can only note that he has yet to "flee the scene"...

In a way understandable, i.e. accuse health minister Anutin for alleged false vax statements.

As has been mentioned Anutin may claim defamation.

Have a look at Thai Criminal Code Section 326.

It is very much to the credit of the UK (and the US) that they are giving vaccines to Thailand. They are meant for the Thai people, and that is a good thing to do.

That the Thai government may abuse the gift, and that there is no apparent attempt to insist on foreigners (Britons) being fairly included is another matter entirely.

As for accountability, this should be in the hands of the electorate, an opinion and decision enforced through the ballot box. Unfortunately this government believes it has all that sort of thing comfortably sewn up.

Yesterday the chief of the "Help Crime Victim Club" went to the tech police to file a complaint against the minister over statements he made that there would be no delays in the Thai vaccine rollout.

Oooooh he didn't see that coming.. fake news goes both ways.

Som nam na.

That's fine. If Anutin does that then you can also file a claim under 326 that he has defamed you by filing a defamation claim.:giggle:

What a load of old nonsense some of these Thai laws are....

I nearly bust an artery laughing at that headline

but seriously it is 100% correct by their own defenition of so called fake news - speaking untruths in public to the public

How about....

--we're gonna have a mobile app that will allow foreigners to register for COVID vaccinations

or

--If you live outside Bangkok area, just contact your local hospital that has your medical records and you'll be able to get a vaccination from them.

or

--we're gonna fully vaccinate 70% of the Thai population by the end of the year....

And the list could be considerably longer....

He further claimed that Anutin had said in June that there would be enough vaccine for everyone's arms and enough to fill all hospitals.

The only thing that was full in hospitals were wards of sick and dying people, he pointed out.

Double ouchhhh !

He also slammed the minister for making a statement about the overcrowding situation at the Bang Sue railway vax center station about a picture being taken from a certain angle making it look worse than it was.

This was unbecoming of a man in his position, he said.

Triple ouchhh !

At least the truth and public interest is a defence in defamation cases.  A journalist won a case against Thaksin using that defence as she was able the proved the allegations she had made about his cheating over excise duty to benefit his company.

He's able to say what ever he likes and get away with it. Sad but true.

Just like Boris Johnson and his merry crew in Britain!

A brave man...hope he gets a lot of support. However, probably won't result in much in the way justice because they'll think 'who is next?' Wrist watches from the grave, TAT perhaps and of course...

They are untouchable whilst in office, same for the UK parliament and majority in the world I believe, the usual defence is they were badly advised or as it is better known passing the buck.

Your point 2 seems to be generally suspected.

Point 1, unless you know something that the Thai legal profession does not I don't think this would fly. ????

He looks like a villain from a James Bond movie, wonder if he has a white cat.......

autin.jpg

Parliamentary immunity will save his backside but the kiddie is toast - one down, get the pallbearers ready.  He has his Suvannaphoum airport extension for his Sino-Thai Engineering signed and 50+ billions are flowing his (company's) way .......

Who is next (plenty to chose from though)?

If I had to choose between two people to live with on a deserted island and the choices were  between Anutin or Prayut Chan-O-Cha I would pick Tuu.

I can't stand a bold face liar.
