The biggest concern is that there doesn't seem to be any kind of contingency planning being done. Everything is reactive.

 

Also, why aren't lessons being learned? After the shambles that resulted at Bang Sue from announcing walk in vaccines, how come less than a week later mass walk-in testing is suddenly announced with no appointment or time slot necessary? Did nobody put 2 and 2 together and say, hang on a minute...

 

It's not rocket science we're talking here, just basic administrative competence and organization.

As soon as they up the scale of testing the results will follow. I am curious to know how many people are tested each day to give an idea of tested to result ratio.

 

Does anybody know accurately how many are tested each day and the percentage of positives/negatives from that?

New record high for total daily cases -- 20,200 (+1,299) -- passing the 20,000 daily cases mark for the first time

 

New record high for subset walk-in cases -- 16,284 (+1,108)

 

New record high for COVID deaths -- 188 (passing the prior daily record high of 178)

 

New record high for active cases / hospitalizations (including field hospitals) -- 211,076 (+2,037). That's because the number of new cases (20,200) still exceeded the number of patients released as recovered (17,975).

 

Number of COVID patients in traditional hospitals declines during the past day from 72,728 to 71,946

 

New record high for COVID critical condition cases -- 4,910 (+17)

 

Number of critical condition COVID patients on ventilators declines during the past day from 1,046 to 1,035 -- likely due to the day's record high number of new deaths.

I realize there are restrictions such as no flights however there is mass travel by people to various provinces.

 

 

Travel restrictions are probably the most important part of the lockdown, much more so than deciding whether you can stand outside, inside, or at a central collection point when purchasing "take away meals"! Travel restrictions will be unpopular, but will be accepted and tolerated if they are universal and not dependant on your wealth and social status.

 

With lockdown of course goes the need for an effective, rapid, universal vaccination programme.

 

 It will, I fear, fall at the first hurdle on both counts.

Yes they all do it i remember funding to certain villages and not to others under an other government. This is how they "buy" their votes.

It is what it is...I came to Phuket in March when things were pretty good countrywide. Since then it's gone down the tubes and as cases were always minimal here (and rooms are cheap due to the lack of tourists) I have stayed on. It's just luck the govt made a demonstration project out of the island and has quickly vaccinated everyone for free.

I just came back from taking our ex-teacher to the airport. We were only stopped at one checkpoint on a frontage road. As cars & motorcycles whizzed past us on the highway, he just asked me where I was going. I said the airport. That was it. Didn’t ask to see any documents 

 

I decided to come back from the airport on the outer-ring road. Toll booths were open as normal. This time I didn’t pass any roadblocks. I was quite surprised about the number of vehicles on the roads, but yes, much quieter than normal. I hope this information is of use to you.

 

There’s no ban on interprovincial travel. The government is just asking people to refrain from travelling far. But if your journey is essential you can do it. A friend just came back to Bangkok by car after finishing the Phuket Sandbox. She said they weren’t stopped at all.

Oh that explains it. You needed to remind everyone that Phuket had an easy ride re vaccinations due to rubbish sandbox plan.

If a booster is actually needed, that means more time for Thailand to get these most effective vaccines (countries will keep at home for their own populace). Lambda is also spreading, and maybe that can beat some of the vaccines. Apparently yet another variant has emerged in the US State of FL, where the anti-vax crowd holds sway.

 

In a sense there is a tale of two vulnerabilities. In Thailand it has been incompetence of the govt that has resulted in the mess. In a place like the US, it is idiocy on the part of many of the people (anti-vax, the "Dem Hoax" demographic, the Free Dumb crowd, the 'magnetized by a vax or Bill Gates' microchip moonbats') who are responsible.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are showing great viability after 6 months.

Sorry to say, but private hospitals have started to send out cancellation notices to some people that had paid in advance for the Moderna vaccine. People have 7 days to claim a refund. But they add you can reserve a 2nd generation Moderna vaccine due in April 2022 #Thailand
