The cause of this mess is not vaccine shortage, that's a symptom.  The cause of this mess is the people in charge. Even if they had enough vaccine to jab the whole of Thailand 10 times over,

Yes, Freedonia is looking better and better each day.

One imagines everyone there has been vaccinated, and they're open for tourism.

These  two will go down in Thai history, not that that is taught in Thai schools, as the absolute worst, and that's saying something given the rogue's gallery of corrupt, inept leaders this "country" has had over the years.

150,000 doses only, and from a small poor country like Bhutan, have we sunk so low?

Is 150000 really going to make any difference ?

Jesus wept.  All this effort for a measly 150,000 vaccines???  Pity the same effort is not being spent on ordering millions of vaccines from other sources.  Spend the effort on faster processing of paperwork and get the orders finally actually ordered.  Spend the effort on changing the asinine policies and allow the hospitals to go get their own vaccines.

Good old Bhutan to Thailand's rescue once again.

Advice to Bhutan: Don't do it!

Thailand's government won't send back any vaccines in the future, but will claim that a rich country (Bhutan) did donate the vaccines...

Better vaccinate the remaining third of the population.

If a bar girl asked for a loan, chances are much better she would repay it than these lying fools.

If the Thai government was a bar girl, she'd ask a little boy (Bhutan) to loan her money (or vaccines). Now that's embarrassing!

AstraZeneca said it could supply the country with about five to six million monthly doses, about half of what the government had targeted.

The leaked letters show that Thailand's "target" was only 3 million doses a month at the time they signed the contracts; that AZ was generous enough to let them suddenly increase that to 6 million a few months later; but that AZ made quite clear that 10 million was impossible due to prior commitments to other countries that had placed more sensible orders. Revising history in order to claim a "target" retroactively is rather embarrassing.

Won't that leave Bhutan short?

The sad thing is, Bhutanese are real Buddhists (not nationalist and racist c****), and Bhutan is known as the 'happiest country in the world'. I worry they will actually do it, leaving tens of thousands of their own unvaccinated...

It's sunny in California today...

You okay?

Borrowing from one of the world's poorest countries, now that is the scum at the bottom of the barrel.

No shame, no honour.

Just when you think the regime can't do any worse, they go and exceed our expectations.

Never underestimate them.

Prayut and Anutin must step down as failed ministers, any other person performing their duties in this manner would have been sacked for gross misconduct.

Who sacks the boss? And those who overthrow a democratically elected government do not step down. Ever. No matter what. And by manipulating and re-writing the constitution they have ensured they are there for life.

Article forgot to mention this was twice the amount the government ordered.

This whole embarrassing thing is just not about " borrowing " vaccines from one of the poorest Countries in the World.

Thailand is the 21 st richest Nation on the Planet.

How could a Nation such as this be getting into these situations so easily. Is the incompetence really that bad.

The 64 K Dollar question has to be how well the rest of the Government is performing, and looking after the financial interests of the Nation in other matters of state..

Episodes such as this surely bring the credibility of the entire Government into focus, not least among Investors.

At the moment, the agreement is being reviewed and considered by the government.

So Bhutan are offering Thailand vaccine doses on the basis that they are given back at a later date. So why are the Thai government dragging thier feet on what is a pretty simple agreement.

How well is the rest of the Government performing seems a good question.  I have to wonder about what is going on here:

The govt's complete failure here makes a mockery of the background of all of them, senior military men.

Logistics should be second nature, can you imagine how they would fare in a real war (not against their own people as like Myanmar they have the guns)!

Laos could probably overcome them in a couple of days.

I've been thinking exactly the same. The government's total failure is remarkable, isn't it. But Thailand doesn't have to worry about an invasion. No-one is interested in a SE Asian backwater that has few natural resources other than shrimp and prostitutes.

It will to those who get the jab... but big picture, no

We ????

And if Bhutan says no, then I guess they'll just have to call up the boss in Beijing and beg him to send some more Sinovac. Who would have thought that Thailand would end up so friendless in the world, but with a government like this one it's not really surprising.

Because they have to pay back double?

:cheesy:     good luck with that one ......      ' cheques in the mail '

So Australia was able to buy one million doses of Pfizer vaccine from Poland, how far are you searching Mr Health minister to get urgent supplies for Thailand? Borrowing 150,000 doses of AZ from Bhutan is a drop in the bucket

150,000/67,000,000 = 0.22%
