They were able to nab her without using the BMW..

Apparently it got stuck on the beach and they had to follow on foot.

  • Such a dangerous person? Whilst I do not condone people who overstay or break the law, this lady is not really a threat to Thailand's security.

  • Talk about kicking a (wo)man when (s)he's down. One really does wonder at the mentality of these people, parading some hapless woman in public, as though it's a great achievement of which to be proud.

How the heck can anyone end up on 4,165 days of overstay?

It's not that hard. Just don't leave the country. Lay low, draw no attention and hope to avoid those random checks. You can last years that way.

Its not the first time I've heard about 10+ years of overstay. The words are that they start out with just a limited time of overstay, for numerous reasons. Then the time flies, they get away with it, and they think it is just too late to fix in a sivil way. They might be a bit embarrassed too, choosing not to think about it, and just hope for the best.

The moral side of it, well that's another thing.

Seems like the monthly brown envelopes to Police and Immigration died together with the husband.

That picture doesn't look right to me. Where is the obligatory big poster showing all the details of the arrest?

...is that a big black plastic mask.

Keeping Thailand safe? What a crock!!! The "local criminal element" doesn't want it's "turf" invaded by rival gangs. In this particular case "the blue hair gang" ????

Exactly, from the photo she doesn't look like a dosser and they don't normally do spot checks on random farang (do they?) so possibly someone ratted her out. As our American cousins say.

Overstaying is very silly in the country of smart cars, smart phones, smart cops and smart people.

If you want to be a criminal here, better bring a few kilos of heroin to Australia and become a member of the smart government later.

...."....keeping Thailand safe and secure from the danger represented by criminal foreign elements."????????????

What will happen to their business ?

Who will inherit it ?

I think it is pretty obvious that the money her cash cow (dead husband) provided  the money grabbers dried up thus giving them the opportunity to show what a great job they are doing identifying this highly dangerous person.  This may not be a 100% true scenario; but, I would bet a lot of money it's damn close.

Correct, what amazes me is how these long overstayers survived financially, without detection.

I say good luck to her, and if i was the LOS boss I would grant her residence.

Well done I hope you r treated with respect and kindness.

The 90 day reports don't seem to be stopping these criminals. So why are they required?

Probably they will give option of Death Penalty or a 40,000 THB fine (Cough Cough)

Wonder where the Swat Team is in the photo. Normally they are always present when it is and big and dangerous crime committed.

So they have started wandering the beaches asking every foreigner they see for identification ?
Yet blatantly obvious criminals can be seen around the place without having to look to hard , but they are never troubled . Wonder if they found any bars selling alcohol while walking the beaches on their mega crime bust ! ????

Astonishing piece of police work.

Goes to show when the Thai police or immigration need to go after a hardened criminal like this old lady they are fully up to the task.

Catching Red Bull boy..............not so much.

Cmon. The couldnt find any prostitutes in Pattaya remember?

The re-enactment of the crime will be great: "now pretend to NOT go up to immigration and renew your visa...11 times please!"

Also at the follow up meeting on the case: "how the heck did she outsmart the fool proof 90 day report system we have in place for exactly this type of crime!? ????"

I get the feeling this evil lawbreaker will be used as a reason for a dozen more tanks, attack helicopters and another submarine though

Don’t forget the space program !!!.

"Wandering the beach," otherwise known as "out for a walk on the beach."

Easy, just start with one day and keep going...

They must be using 4x4 smart BMW's otherwise how did they get on the beech to nab her?

At 40 days overstay, the maximum fine is 20,000 baht. Might as well carry on? I have heard that argument used.

11 years worth of visas is probably more than 20,000 baht with all of the other costs.

Easy.

Just watch me.

the expat community seems rife with illegal immigrants ... but it seems that Thai immigration isn't very good at catching up with them and when they do, they don't seem to understand how to deal humanely with these people.

it just makes them look bad.

PS - presumably her husband was a foreigner?

  • Popular Post

I was a police officer in America for 28 years and many time you over look a so small misdemeanor because the person really did nothing that bad or did not hurt anyone. This poor lady just lost her husband and now they want to put he into more pain. Let the lady go if the only thing she done wrong was stay with and love her husband till the day he died then felt so lonely and was wondering on the beach that her and husband probably loved. The police are to also protect people also not just arrest good people

was she too stupid to tell her story to anyone ? as if I was saying anywhere that I am a dopehead !
