Featured Replies

Is there an app that informs you if there are police check points setup around pattaya?  I was out today and drove by two of them.

I did not see any checkpoint since I'm back. Not enough foreigners here to be ripped off, I guess

Yes, it's a Line group but I left as I was getting too many alerts.

Police checkpoints are at the usual places, very big one today Pattaya 2nd road, 20+ police

My friend told me about a LINE group but they could only have 1,000 members and they were fully subscribed.

However, the area is cursed with foreigners on motor cycles, in party mode, dubious paperwork, no helmets, stupid clothing etc. The police do a valuable and necessary job.

This could be best post of the year. :giggle:

They were out at Dolphin Circus yesterday. Christmas tips.????

I'm a member of a Line group (Road Safety Pattaya) where members post locations and a brief description of police checkpoints in the Pattaya area,  Group is limited to 500, there's another one on Line that's full but my friend is waiting for an opening to invite me.

Maybe time to start another?

Police checkpoints. Another proof that Pattaya is coming back to life.

I missed them so much waiting for fools riding past Soi 9 without helmet ????

Yes of course and that seems to work very well..... it is just those absent minded actions like taking a left turn on a red light (someone often beeps you from behind!), or simply pulling up that little bit too far forward over the naughty line.

Now that they are back, start picking your nose and cough all over your documents when they ask.

If you know where they're usually located then check the traffic queue status on Google Maps before setting off. If the usual spot you know of has a much larger red line than usual, and it doesn't clear every now and then when the lights turn green, then it's likely to be a police checkpoint. I

Be careful, the truth will not sit well with some of the members on here!! LOL!

The Police needs some extra cash for their Christmas/New Year parties.

Indeed. The fun and freedom that Thailand offers leads some foreigners to believe they are entitled to break the traffic laws

The police were at the Dolphin roundabout looking for dangerous drunks who are often entitled, selfish foreigners.

I doubt there are too many drunks during their working hours. They pack up when it goes dark ad stop the job if it rains.

Any chance of a quick summary of the "usual places". I haven't been going out much lately and would appreciate the heads up, and also, what time of day are these checkpoints usually set up?

Did they stop you? I've never driven by checkpoints as they normally pull everyone up. Where were they and approximately at what time?

This was 3rd road near Soi Excite earlier this year. 2nd road near Pattaya Tai and Dolphin Roundabout are regular checkpoints too. Like another poster said look out for traffic jams on Google Maps as a fair indication of checkpoints.
