What is your plan when China invades Taiwan?

Featured Replies

It is no secret I have raised this as the elephant in the room for expats trying to stay here long term.

Yesterday Citibank announced that Evergrande has defaulted on it bond commitments.

Massive financial turmoil assured.  Political situation already red hot in China due to Covid lockdowns.

They refuse to licence an effective MrNa vaccine and only 30% of their elderly population is vaccinated.

Moving forward the CCP have three options:

1. Keep lockdowns in place indefinitely and (along with the Evergrande fallout) ensure the economy is done for

2. Let covid rip and have a societal meltdown

3. Start a war

My money is on option #3.

Here is some light reading for you:

That's an impossible question to answer, but I have two bases, one in Thailand, and one in Europe, so not to worried yet.

I do not believe China will invade, but I didn't believe Putin was Crazy or Stupid enough to invade Ukraine either, so who knows what will happen

China wont invade Taiwan. Too much to lose not much to gain. Plus that bit of water between the two countries is a more formidable barrier than a barbed wire fence.

Lol... don't you find it strange when such "explosive" world changing news is reported only by a couple of Indian newspapers?

Better to ask the question and have a plan B than not. The Chinese are driven by ideology rather than logic or economic sense.

Thailand and Taiwan are different countries.

I was always under the impression China was driven by $$$$ cloaked in ideology.

I will quickly return to Taiwan.

I will drink champagne on the return flight.

China invading Taiwan doesn't really effect Thailand does it?

I know Biden did say they would intervene though, which might cause a chain reaction globally.

I always have a plane ticket handy and I most likely would return to my home country if the USA or NATO had a war with China (every 2 months I change my flight 2 months further out when I get a covid extension, as it's free).

Also I looked into the Citibank news about evergrande and that was from April

Russia invading Ukraine effected the world, and that includes Thailand.

You think China invading Taiwan will not effect the world, also?

How was Thailand affected by Ukraine invading Russia?

Maybe I’ll post a Taiwanese flag as my profile pic.  That’ll show ‘em.

Bit of a dumb thing to say? You seen fuel prices? You heard of inflation. Thats just for starters..

I'll bet 10 baht they won't invade, the Russian invasion made them see the light, it's just not worth the fallout

inflation was already here before the Ukraine war, the extra inflation due to oil spiking for one month barely did anything

Incase you were living under a rock the past 2 years the us government printed trillions of dollars of cash and gave it out, that’s why inflation is here.

Totally agree things were on a down slide here before covid with inflation, exports, manufacturing and tourism...but a 1 month spike in fuel is just nonsense as is a claim of zero effect.

Agree, I don't really care about Chinese killing Chinese, or East Europeans killing East Europeans.

I wouldn't do anything about it even if I could, it's not my business.

Why worry, it will be the end of the world, Sleepy Dementia Joe already said he would declare war on China basically if they did invade Taiwan. Idiot. Well, the puppet said it before his puppeteers corrected him.

More to do with COVID IMHO.

How many of the posters who have commented above know anything about....  草莓族 ?

 草莓族 (The Strawberry Generation/Strawberry Tribe)

The Strawberry Generation in Taiwan are milquetoast.

How many years, for example, has anyone here spent in Taiwan?

10 years?

20 years?

30 years?

How many?

Tell me.

IF China were to mount an attack against Taiwan, then, the MILQUETOAST Strawberries would fall like the hothouse plants which we know they are.

Taiwan is hiding under the US umbrella, at the moment.

This is a symbiotic relationship which is good for the world, as well.

But, I have never met a man in Taiwan who could stand up to a man from Dongbei.

The ONLY way that Taiwan will be able to defend itself is if all weapons are fully robotic, and controlled using AI.

The fighting man of Taiwan is nonexistent.

Taiwan, these days, is totally undertested, and full of children of dead soldier who retreated to Formosa, decades ago.

Anyway, for sure....

Thinking that Taiwan could, in any way, defend itself against a Chinese invasion is just ridiculous.

Also, the Taiwanese democracy, and the Taiwanese political situation, is sort of like a cartoon.  It is not real.

There is no way that Taiwan would exist, today, without the force of the US.

The US needs Taiwan, for sure.

But, almost everything about Taiwan is a complete JOKE....except...for.....  TSMC

Long live TSMC.

Otherwise, Taiwan is a joke, both politically and militarily, and in most other respects, as well.

I need to keep this short.

Or, otherwise, I might wish to make a few other valid criticisms here.

I am fine.

I feel even finer after having left Betel Nut Island.

Please don't misunderstand...

Democracy on Formosa is a charade.

Enjoy your time in the sun under the protective parasol of American military might, while it lasts.

After that, then Taiwan will surely be strawberry jam.

Reading this topic is sort of reminiscent of reading Gordon Chang, of Cornell.... but... Crazier.

Anyway...

No need to fret....

Yet.

China, today, is still stable....

Unfortunately.
