Joining the services was the best thing I ever did. Came out with a trade and an appetite for travel.

Pity about the <deleted> guys that run it. It could have been so much better and the senior NCO bullies were pretty bad.

Probably to go for a different education and to start saving money earlier in order to build up a passive income faster than I actually did.

I've had an adventurous life up until this point and wouldn't change anything about it at all.........BUT I would tell myself to investigate the share market and put a little money away on a regular basis, in a diversified fund for my future, and most importantly – DON'T GET MARRIED.

1/ Don't get married, or have a relationship longer than one year in any Western country.

 

2/ Don't get anyone pregnant.

 

3/ Buy as much property as you can, and sit on it. Preferably property that generates an income while it appreciates in value. They don't make any more of it.

 

4/ Don't smoke, don't give into peer pressure.

 

5/ Save money. Leave the shiny new toys to the poseurs. The only people you need to impress are the ones who determine your salary.

 

6/ As soon as you have enough dosh to retire on for the rest of your life, come to Thailand.
