Please tell us all exactly what reason they have to believe that raiding his home will uncover evidence of this 'crime'.

Facts only please.

Well we need to wait and see what those several boxes contained that the FBI took with them after the search

You may be a non-American, but you are absolutely not a neutral observer.  Do you even understand how a search warrant is obtained?  There has to be suspicion that a crime was committed, that evidence

OK ready to confess

I'm not a democrat, I'm not a Republican, hell I'm not even American.

The existence of Trump followers outside of the US is not new, it’s a thing.

He’s had a strong following amongst the extreme rightwing across the UK. Europe and elsewhere.

Innocent until proven

Basic principle many seem to have forgotten

He has not been convicted and in order to proceed with a case for indictment, since he is still innocent, all evidence must be collected, and that is what they are doing by raiding his home, looking for the evidence that they have determined through many different means, is there.

Lets see if they release the warrants they submitted, if they can without handing their indictment case they are building to his attorneys until it is discovery time.  Do you think they raided his home without a warrant which identified what they were looking for?  You really have no idea how serving a warrant works now do you?

Do all those supporting Trump here and declaring this to be politically motivated believe that Trump didn't actually remove presidential records illegally?

You make a very valid point.

The FBI’s no-knock raid was made under authority of a judge signing the search warrant.

To obtain a search warrant the FBI had to present evidence to the judge that demonstrates to the satisfaction of the judge that there is evidence of a crime at the property.

To obtain a no-knock warrant the FBI need to make the case, to the judge’s satisfaction, that the subject(s) of the search might destroy or remove evidence.

So to answer your question, the FBI have convinced a judge that evidence of a crime exists at the property and that there is reason to believe the subject(s) of the search might destroy or remove that evidence.

Look on the bright side Johnny, it might not be Trump they’re after, it could be the cook or the gardener.

You know what terrifies me? It terrifies me that there are enough "independent thinkers" (being extremely polite here) out there so that there can even be talk of a rerun for the worst president ever, a person so spectacularly unfit to lead that even if he led a gaggle of geese across the road you'd expect a disaster to happen.

Right. The prospect of Joe coming back for another four years is terrifying, for sure.

I am hoping for a FAR greater crime than some paperwork issue. It sounds as serious as an overdue library book.

Unless Trump has been caught comitting a very serious crime like murder, with irrefutable evidence found during this horrific raid on an ex Presidents residence there will be mayhem.

Wasn't Biden supposed to be uniting and healing the nation.

? Turning the FBI into political attack dogs to nail the man the dems are terrified of in a fair election is not good optics.

Well the FBI will have reviewed the seized haul from Mar a Lago many hours ago, and know whether they are heros who busted an evil ex President caught red handed comitting the crime of the century, or if it was just another hilarious wild goose chase by a discreditted political organization that is starting to look much like the KGB.

The silence from the FBI and the MSM is becoming deafening....

You want results in hours?  It will probably take days just to catalogue all that was taken.  Then there will be the tasks of evaluating the documents, seeing of they have everything the National Archives listed as missing, determining what laws were broken, etc.

This is an investigation that will take a long time.

Far right would be the likes of the American Freedom Party and American Independent party amongst others.

It's veering a bit off topic now though, this thread is about the USA rapidly descending into the murky realms of politicized law enforcement, more akin to third world banana republics. A sad day.

Let’s go back to your usual insistence on evidence.

Where is your evidence of political interference in the issue of this no-knock search warrant?

Destroying that library book would be a crime, no? It seems that the GOP don't want to be healed. Should that crime not be charged? One law for some and another for everyone else?

Unlike trump, Biden has explicitly and publicly refused to lobby his AG or the DOJ.

You should ask the forum management to open a thread on that.

Did you miss the posts explaining that FBI Director Christopher Wray was appointed by Trump?

We’ve seen Trump’s MAGA Mayhem, those who foolishly followed his last call to fight are suffering the consequences.

And a new elected administration  has control of law enforcement and the national guard.

Nobody is going to standby and let extremists mayhem.

Oh, and facts matter.

FBI Director Wray was appointed by Trump.

I'm not in the FBI, but a judge signed off on it, so that will do for me for now.

You clearly have more faith in the FBI and the political impartiality of the US judiciary than I do.

Let's wait and see if they find the smoking gun. Seems awfully quiet so far.

You do have a point....regarding this one particular charge.  But there are others.  Regardless, remember how the feds got Al Capone?

I did too and he certainly has delivered but unfortunately he's not a miracle worker.

It was awful quiet before this FBI no-knock search.

Trump never saw it coming.

This is an investigation that will take a long time.

Add in the fact that after cataloguing the items taken and the locations taken from, the entire catalogue writeup of items will be taken back to the Federal Judge who signed the warrant and a return of warrant service will be completed being entered back into the system as completed. The whole shebang being then placed into evidence after the investigators go through it all line by line piece by piece and make photos and copies which will then be given an evidence number.  I remember doing such a raid on a trucking company, it took me and two other investigators a week to catalogue all of the items taken...........not a task that can be completed in a few hours.

Yes.  It's called dereliction of duty.  But there is another thread, title "Trump did nothing...", covering that.

He's had a defense fund going since he ran away from the draft as fast as his bone spur riddled little feet could carry him.

The interesting thing politically is that this cancels out the supreme court abortion ruling as far as energizing voter bases. The abortion ruling was set to bring Democrats out of the woodwork, although the Kansas vote may have mollified some. Now, with the Mar a Lago raid, I would imagine Trump supporters would crawl over broken glass to get to the polls. I'm really interested to see which of these two motivations wins out.

To those insisting this investigation is political:

Everyone involved in the investigation is well aware of the fact that the Republicans will probably control one or both houses of Congress after the election.  When that happens this will become the most investigated investigation in history.  For that reason the people in charge will have ensured that every applicable law has been and will be followed.  This will prove to be the most bullet-proof investigation in history.

Of course this won't stop Trump and his hanger-ons from claiming deep-state cover-up.  I'm sure we will hear that very soon, maybe even tomorrow.
