Thai soccer fans will be able to watch all 64 World Cup 2022 matches in Qatar, due to kick off this Sunday, after FIFA and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) reached an agreement on a price tag of US$33 million for the broadcast rights in Thailand.

SAT President Kongsak Yodmanee said that the price does not include the 15% tax, which the SAT will have to pay to FIFA. This will bring the total cost for the broadcast rights to about 1.4 billion baht.

He thanked Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, a member of the International Olympic Committee and Somsak Leeswadtrakul, an advisor to the Olympic Council of Asia, as well as the private sector which has helped fund the cost of the broadcast right.

I think it's mostly Americans that don't like or understand football or soccer ....

they don't understand the concept of a draw  ,especially if  0 0 ,  as all their

games have large scores , I remember some years ago they wanted to introduce

4 quarters , better for advertisers , and bigger goals ,for more scores , and no draws.

But then I don't like American football,   too many stops and starts , throwing the ball

forward ,and everyone is tackling each other without the ball,  baseball = rounders

basketball = netball , played mostly by girls where   I come from

Yet cricket was popular at one time in America, Bart King is still listed in Wisdens for his records.

Any "legal" way to watch the matches on the internet while here in Thailand? I do not have a tv package or sat connection. I am on 3bbb internet. Otherwise will have to use some <deleted>ty streaming website that crashes while Germany wins the penalty shoot out vs England ???? (No offense I love the UK and lived there) Thanks!

Smart move, Germany dumb as ever pays top EUROS and on tops arrive with the biggest media TV team. Meanwhile Germans gladly pay the state broadcaster 19€ per month per household. Thats what the british call dumb money and right they are...

The part I don't get about soccer is when a player goes down to the ground like he has been shot when an opponent comes within 5' of him.  Game is seemingly devoid of any sort of dignity. In ice hockey our players  continue playing even if they break a bone or two.

Not too hard to work out. It’s called tactics, to try to get the ref to call a foul, but is thankfully less an issue nowadays with VAR etc. Anyway, dignity and ice hockey? Isn’t that the hobby where they fight every 5 minutes and dressed up in so much foam that you could drop off a cliff and not be hurt? ????

Watching the games on British Terrestrial TV (BBC 1 and ITV) with a VPN.

OR purchase an IPTV subscription.

But, something 100% legal....  I’m not so sure.

Comparing two sports with oval ball, rugby is 1 million times more interesting and intense that American football

Fastest game on ice. As for soccer tactics it's more embarrassing than anything. I rate it on the boring index about even with checkers or chess.

They didn't get a cheap price. FIFA didn't play their game. Why would they, only to get everyone else demanding a discount next time? Companies and undisclosed others came up with the cash.

Good Morning,

1.4 Billion Thai Baht for a Soccer Tournament !!?? ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAILAND !! Why don’t you use the money to help the poor , Or manage flood zones so people don’t have to wade through human sewage , Or establish a Nation Wide Solid waste collection system.
