Why doomed? Maybe he will be deported and serve his sentence in Russia.

From what I understand, Russian prisoners are sent to the front lines.........extended freedom for a short while anyway........????

On that road btw are nearly always bikes parked onto the road. This narrows the road and with insufficient lighting this often requires sudden avoidance movements.

With the complete lack of detail/witnesses statement it's not ok to easily put the blame on Igor. If you know how motorcycle riders are behaving, lighting etc.

The new order of not naming nationality of foreigners hasn't made it to Phuket yet ????

I don,t think he can go to the temple to be a monk and say sorry for what happened.I see a large payout to the family and lots of problems for him now.Drunk driving, dangerous driving maybe a lots of problems are now happening

The witnesses state the car crashed into the motorbike.

He may be wishing he wasn't avoiding his responsibility at home.

What relevance to the accident is it, or the story at all, that he may or may not have had any responsibility at home [Russia]…. ?

If you look at the pictures (in the article) you see the back of a Thai motorcycle destroyed and the front of a car. So the most likely explanation is the Russian hit the Thai from behind.

If so, yes speeding and/or negligence/DUI.
