Dilbert creator lashes out after papers pull his strip: 'Dicey situation'

The creator of the Dilbert cartoon script has fired back after multiple outlets dropped it following the outrageously racist comments he made earlier this week.

In the previous video posted to social media, Scott Adams had stated, "Based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to white people is to get the hell away from Black people. Just get the f*ck away."

Always thought they were dull.

Bit of a weird and pointless anti-black rant he had though.

Yes, an acquired taste indeed, and one which I enjoy.????????

Years ago I read them daily. I stopped when he started with his extremist politics.

No comment about the topic? Don't want to say the quiet part out loud?

No need to pretend you are different. Cancel culture is as American as apple pie, even if you are eating Kiwi fruit now.

And that’s the thing.

All he had to do was keep is hate to himself.

A bit late in life for him to learn there is no reverse gear on his mouth.

Just for a second think about the reaction if a black man said the same about whites. Hmmm......... I'd wager not the same outrage.

Me personally I don't care about an actor's political views, I go see the movie. It's entertainment, nothing more.

The reaction would and should be identical. In both cases exceedingly offensive.

For someone who's been "cancelled" he sure seems to be getting a lot of attention. And his daily diatribes are available on Youtube.

Rant starts at 14:30, I challenge anyone to say this isn't racist.

I knew this chap went off the rails but wow, how many hooded robes does he have in his closet?

BTW I do not want to cancel Mr. Adams. In fact, just the opposite, I'd like to see him broadcasting to the world every day.

Yup. It is someones opinion and none of my business.

Perhaps I'm just not in the mood to be outraged today (or any other day.)

Next.????????

From Dilbert cartoon dropped by US newspapers over creator’s racist comments | US news | The Guardian

Adams called Black Americans a “hate group” and suggested white Americans “get the hell away from Black people” in response to a conservative organization’s poll purporting to show that many African Americans do not agree with the statement: “It’s OK to be white.”

[...]

“If nearly half of all Blacks are not OK with white people ... that’s a hate group,” said Adams, who is white, on his YouTube channel on Wednesday. “And I don’t want to have anything to do with them.”

[...]

Adams’s initial remarks came in response to a conservative Rasmussen Poll that appeared to show that 26% of Black respondents said they disagreed with the statement “It’s OK to be white”. Another 21% said they were not sure.

End of quote

I understand his point. When 26% of Black respondents said they disagree with the statement “It’s OK to be white”. and another 21% said they were not sure that means 47% of the people in that survey are racist.

But because in this case the black guys are the racists, and the white guys are the "victims" that is somehow seen in a different light.

Personally I think it's ok to be white or black or whatever. Who cares. And realistically there are racist people in all of those groups. It's not a typically white attitude to be racist.

Talk to each other and learn that we can all live happily together. Cancelling anybody for a relative harmless remark is stupid.

I was shocked years ago when he came out as a Trumpist.

But knowing that, his racism doesn't surprise in the slightest.

But he is definitely stupider than I thought to be public about it.

As far as canceling his strip I am neutral. I think that is basically a business decision of the media organs.

I got bored with his stuff years ago well before Trump but I do recognize that he is talented.

I want to address the issue here about black racism vs. white racism in a white dominant society with a legacy of slavery.

They are of course both wrong. But I think its disingenuous to see them as exactly equivalent given the power differences.

My 80+ USA mom hated the " Black lives matter" so much she ordered some "all lives matter" signs and gave some away.   What a crazy World we live in.

I'm assuming we all know there were white slaves.????

Just now, VocalNeal said:

What proportion compared to black slaves? And were whites then subjected to a century of racist discrimination?

What is fascinating about his remarks (which I listened to in their entirety) is they are the textbook definition of systemic racism. And the response to them are exactly the chronic failure of Americans to understand the meaning of systemic racism.

He is pointing out that even though he possesses no ill will towards blacks, given their feelings towards whites, it logically follows that the safest and rational choice is to avoid them.

The paradigm case of this is the liberal white woman who even expresses her anger about racism but then chooses to live in a all-white area because it will ensure the best education for her children and the safest life for them. She does not feel racist; she does use logic. It is applied rational choice theory. No different to how she would select washing powder in her local supermarket.

The point, which I hope everyone has now grasped, is that the subjective feelings of the person acting are not relevant. What matters is that the structure of society necessarily dictates these outcomes. It is systemic.

Crucially, the flaw in the response, as is always the case amongst the American media, in its passionate and vengeful desire to find a scapegoat for the dysfunctional structure of their society, is to pin the blame on an individual.

Let's be clear. Scott Adams is free of guilt. Those who are guilty are the Americans who falsely seek to blame him for their country's ills. Shame on you.
