I did not dodge your question at all. I just didn't give you the answer you wanted. In fact, when you did ask me what I thought it meant, I gave you the answer, namely, elections. Stop making things up. 

I also pointed out that your interpretation is dodgy. What does "under the legitimate efforts of our Constitution" mean? He didn't use the word "legal", he used legitimate which sets a far stricter standard, even though, to be fair, I'm not entirely sure what "under the legitimate efforts of our Constitution" even means. But it certainly doesn't smack of using the Justice Dept. against him. Throughout his career, Biden has not earned a reputation for being a wordsmith.

Anyway, a biased interpretation of a not very clear statement does not prove anything. How exactly did he interefere and what is the evidence? You have nothing.

What's really funny about this is that Trump and Barr did attempt to coerce justice dept officials to go after Trump's enemies. Trump even attempted to push Zelensky into investigating his chief political opponent, Joe Biden.

Ya think the same people who are trying to twist Biden's words into some sort of plot, were concerned by the actions of the previous administration?

I had time to check what was exactly said and when, and here is my reply.

 

A look at the context and at what he exactly said is quite instructing, and it's not unethical as you suggest.

Here's a quote of what he said, which includes what he said just before:

 

(BIDEN) "And so, they’re very concerned that we are still the open democracy we’ve been and that we have rules and the institutions matter.  And that’s the context in which I think that they’re looking at: Are we back to a place where we are going to accept decisions made by the Court, by the Congress, by the government, et cetera? 

Q    So the entire genesis of that G7 conversation was tied to your predecessor, who is about to launch another campaign.  So how do you reassure them, if that is the reason for their questioning, that the former President will not return or that his political movement, which is still very strong, will not —

The subject discussed was:

"that we have rules and the institutions matter."

"Are we back to a place where we are going to accept decisions made by the Court, by the Congress, by the government, et cetera?"

Is that an unethical perspective?

 

It is also relevant to note that he did not use "we" as "me" or the government, or the Democrats, but as the USA

"we are still the open democracy"

"Are we back to a place"

 

Then he talked about Trump returning to power because he was asked about it, because the G7 countries were worried (according to the journalist asking the question).

"I’m making sure he, under legitimate efforts of our Constitution, does not become the next President again."

He does not suggest he will interfere in anything. There no precision about what he meant. It could well be, for example, to beat him at the next elections. It's not unethical, and it is not in contradiction with voters voting to choose the next President, as you claim.

Really seems that fear is a big motivating factor amongst Democrats these days.  They realized that they dodged a bullet in 2020, thanks to Covid. Absent the pandemic, Trump would have been re-elected easily.  

Agree 100%. IMO the continual attacks using legal means are because they really, really fear him winning again, even more so given that he would likely take revenge  on them.

 

My sensible side hopes he doesn't stand or loses the primaries, so a better GOP candidate can win, but my mischievous side hopes he wins for the "entertainment" that would follow.

The word was he was offered $25 million when he became a former president to do a new Apprentice, so I'd guess that offer is still out there.  But he's stumbled upon  money machine and could make that in a month or two via fundraising.

Don’t let the hopeful side of you takeover your sensible side mate. Grasped the reality; Trump’s performative entertainment is only appealing to the 25%. The rest is sick and tire of his corrupt antics and give him an embarrassing send off in 2024. Loser.   Saved by the cursed Electoral College.  After seeing 4 years of his failed presidency, voters turned hands down and he lost the popular vote even more badly in 2020--by over 7 million votes.  Rejected yet again.  Loser.

    He'll always have his core fanatics no matter what he does and a percentage of die-hard Republicans who will vote for whomever is the party's nominee.  But, I like the Democrat chances with Trump as the Republican nominee because I think large numbers of independents and undecideds, and some Republicans, will choose the Democrat nominee over loser Trump with all his negative baggage--and possibly criminal convictions.   And, always good to have an opponent who's dumb as a rock--hopefully, he will once again strongly urge his supporters to wait until Election Day to vote.
