Patong – A British man was arrested after he punched a Tuk Tuk taxi driver after he and his friends crashed into the parked taxi driver in Patong, Phuket.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that late at night on Tuesday (May 9th), a Tuk Tuk taxi driver, Mr. Armin Longklang, filed a report to the Patong Police.

 

Armin told police that a motorbike rider crashed into his parked Tuk Tuk on the roadside in Patong. The rider was with a small group of other young foreign riders, none of them wearing helmets and appearing aggressive, according to Armin and CCTV footage.

 

 The CCTV footage appears to show a verbal altercation take place between a group of the foreign motorbike riders and Armin, who wanted compensation for the damages to his vehicle.

 

While verbally debating the incident and cost of damage, one foreign rider wearing a black shirt can clearly be seen on video getting off his motorbike and proceeding to punch Armin in the side of the head several times, blindsiding Armin.

 

The suspect and his friends then fled on their motorbikes as several witnesses attempted to stop them from fleeing.

I'm a Brit and I am sad to say this behaviour is not unusual - young Brits these days are cowards but still like to think they can fight the world.........once they have had a drink. I hope they catch that thug in the black t-shirt and deal with him properly.

It's the correct thing to do, they would have been beaten up by many.

I actually hope they get their holiday extended.  Give them separate accommodation for 30 days. Charge with guilty and note it on their records as well as blacklist them

These breed if Brits need to stay in benidorm. And yes I'm a brit

I imagine there was little damage and the taxi driver was trying to make the most of it by asking an extortionate amount. 

A friend of mine was hit by a tuk tuk thing and they demanded he pay them 6,000 Bht fir a scratch to the tuk tuk. 

Good on the guy for showing tourists are no walkover. Most of the foreigners here would just pay up.

I am not a Brit, but fully agree with you! Question is, why is it so and is it mainly the younger guys that think that way?

Now instead of 10,000 Baht or whatever the tuktuk driver wanted he’ll be lucky if it’s only 10x that amount. 

Too bad the mob didn't get a hold of him. Some street justice would have served him right.

Taxis drivers in Phuket are the dregs of Thai society, an embarrassment to compassionate, honest majority of Thais.

I hope quite a bit longer, so they miss their flight and get deported and blacklisted.

I put it down to over-zealous liberalism, lazy parenting and the PC brigade getting far too much traction in society 30 years ago. Some of these kids today have never been told No and think they can do what they want with impunity. I hope they come down in this idiot with the full weight of the law.

Good on the guy for running into the tuk tuk driver and then sucker punching him?

Look on twitter some time. It's the new normal. People in the UK (and the US) apparently just brawl and fight all the time for nothing. Mass riot if the KFC runs out of chicken wings. These people are why Thailand, whatever its problems, is a better place than back home.
