Thai Immigration updates online system for 90-day reporting

The Immigration Bureau announced on Monday a major upgrade to its online system for 90-day reporting. This development is expected to alleviate the chronic overcrowding at Immigration offices across the country.

Immigration say the new system will help to streamline the process for foreigners residing in Thailand.

Pol Lt Gen Ittipol Ittisaranachai, the chief of Immigration Police, highlighted this expansion plan, emphasizing the Bureau’s commitment to facilitating the stay of international residents in Thailand.

Under Thai law, all foreigners residing in the country on various long-term visas, or rather extension of stays, are mandated to report their address to the Immigration Bureau every 90 days. Despite the existence of an online system for several years, its unreliability had forced many to continue visiting the Immigration offices in person, leading to excessive crowding.

Responding to the need for a more efficient and user-friendly system, the Bureau has revamped the online service. This upgrade is anticipated to encourage more foreigners to opt for online reporting, thereby reducing the physical footfall at the offices.

Online Reporting for Foreigners Staying Over 90 Days in Thailand

image.jpeg

BANGKOK (TNA) – The Immigration Bureau (IB) has introduced an online reporting system for foreigners staying in Thailand for more than 90 days, marking the first-ever implementation of this service.

The initiative, initially targeting investors under the promotion of the Board of Investment (BOI), is expected to stimulate the economy and boost tourism in Thailand.

Pol Lt Gen Itthipol Itthisarnronnachai, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, along with relevant authorities, announced the commencement of the “90 days online notification” service. This allows foreigners to report their residence status when staying in the kingdom for more than 90 days through an online platform.

The system aims to provide convenience to international tourists, enabling them to submit advance notifications 15 days prior to the expiration of their 90-day stay. Notifications can be made at any time through the online portal at www.immigration.go.th. Once registered, users will receive a password via email, allowing them to log in and submit their 90-day notification. Approval results will be sent via email or accessed through the website www.immigration.go.th.

I tried to log in.

Couldn't pass the CAPTCHA test, despite many tries.

I got my regular notice that mine was due, so the next day, 15th b4 the date due, and tried to log on but it said the site was down temporarily for 3-6 hours so waited til the afternoon and tried again, got through immediately filled in what needed filled in checked all other items correct and sent it in and within hours got a message from immigration that it had been accepted.  just awaiting the next due date message.  Sure beats having to make a trip to the immigration office...now if we could just do a yearly update on line too, and no 90-day reports life even with taxes is great.

The best improvement will be to cancel this communist era, paranoiac system all together and save

everyone, the Immigration and all of us an unnecessary time and men power wasting exercise,

A country that gets aprox. 30 millions tourist a year and hundreds of thousands of expats should

have the best and most efficient system in the world but Thailand is still way, way far from it...

Thai IT is well known for being less than stellar... just look at the IT running this forum as a good example of inconsistencies and lack of planning.

When LTR visa holders don't need to file 90-day, I don't see the use of 90-day at all.

90 days causing overcrowding at immigration offices?

Just do away with this antiquated requirement- job done!

Just registered...I think as there was no notification.....just the log-in page came up....did that and nothing...the balls kept rolling:)))

However...I use Apple, and from past Immigration things I've tried online, they've never worked. I asked at the IO, and the response was "Apple no good"

The best solution  is abandon this ridiculous 90 days report.. What is he use? Criminals and overstayers will never use it and the good ones don't have any benefit from it. Re entering the country needs an address notification too and with a yearly extension, they have all information they want. Surely from people who live here for many years already. But didgital systems are very hard to scan a passport, renting contract , marriage certificates, etc so every time copies and copies and pictures and pictures.. The new Mor Prom app is even not working properly...Thailand and computers is not a match

The super "new" system has just rejected my wife's 90 day because the system says she is on a tourist visa!

She has been on a retirement extension of stay for 21 years!

So the unwanted trip to immigration is necessary yet again!

Never had a problem with it, easy enough as with everything else.

Until you have a problem with it perhaps?

AFAICT, this second generation TM47/90-Day Reporting system, first introduced on 2 December 2021 remains unchanged. Yes, some offices, like CW, have experienced some issues in approving reports in a timely fashion, but that seems to have been addressed in the last 60-ish days.

I am curious what this "major upgrade" is. Perhaps it's on the back-end, invisible to end-users, with the flow of filings through the approval process. My most recent filing (CW, 23 Nov. 2023) was approved within 25 hours. My report before that one sat for 17 days before being rejected.

Until they have a system that generates the acceptance and receipt instantly, I'll continue to just go into my local immigration office for 90 day reporting.

It is to keep us in our place.

Worked fine for me (when it was not down for weeks on end) other than one rejection. I am worried that it won't now that it has been "improved".

what about taxes too, as the LTR is set up for "rich pensioners "  sorta like the US, used to be prior to Reagan, the rich got hammered for tax dollars but he dropped them down into the same arena as the less wealthy workers.  That is why the republicans continue to be supported so strongly by the rich.  Meanwhile the numbers of those fleeing that party are reportedly growing due to other policies and beliefs.  I could never be a democrat, but dropped fm the republicans and went independent...maybe it is time for a 3rd party with power to elect and not just defeat one of the other two party candidates.

Reagan was in favour of flat[ish] income tax rates. Which I support too, I don't see why some people pay 40% while others pay zilch.

Same here, except I have a work permit.

Your application for "STAYING LONGER THAN 90 DAYS" has been rejected.

Your visa category does not comply with the 90-days notification conditions (tourist).

I've reapplied online again.  I'll see how it goes.

Which has incessantly being begged for over the past 20 years....
It would truly be amazing if they succeed.
But I have a feeling it'll be more akin to smoke/2.5 reduction schemes :/

I tried online just last week and submitted and got a message to update my TM30 after waiting 4 days, updated the TM30 with my landlord immediately and then nothing. The landlord advised he had received the same request from other tenants. So submitted via an agent, again as time was running short.

I've done my 90 days online for 3 years without problems. I don't know what this is all about, I just logged in and the site seems to be the same as it's always been. The problems I hear from others always seem to be when trying to report using their phone, either Android or Apple.  I've never had a problem using my laptop with Windows 10/11
