She loved that dog

But the dog didn't like her due to the treatment and keeping him in prison.

He didn't feel like being a family member.

Poor dog

The sad reality is that "culture always wins."
There are few cultures less equipped to own, maintain, manage, and train dogs than Thailand.
And the irony here is Isaan, the belief no home is complete without at least one dog.
The dogs are completely untrained, unresponsive to commands, often aggressive, and few, if any, have the proper vaccines they need.  They don't even wear collars so there is a CHANCE to pull them off victims.  Also, since they are rarely neutered, they breed like rats.  I no longer go for walks, don't visit the lovely temple nearby, and endure the endless barking all hours of the night and day.  Fair warning to people thinking about moving to Isaan, stay here for a few weeks before you decide to actually move here.

I wouldn’t swap a million dollars for my two pit bulls , they are fantastic dogs, they would lick you to death if I let you in through the gate, but would attack you if you climbed over it at night !
id rather wipe you and your tiny brain out!

Yeah, I get that you're attached to your pets.

And I respect that you love them enough to want to have me wiped out.

You love animals.

Problem is the state cannot police everyone who owns these things. And for every good owner like you, there's probably 5 bad owners.

It's too late now, but if you had poodles you'd be content. You don't HAVE to own pitbulls. There are other breeds out there.

I'm not trying to be an ahole. There's a story of a pitbull mauling every 2-3 months. How many people need to get killed?

I guess her plans for showing off "skippy" to her friends have been cancelled.

Most humans never understand why our ancestors killed off some animals....guess what, too many of their young (kids) died by these animals and our ancestors did not care or were woke...they knew what to do.  Learn from them and wipe these brutes off the planet.  There are millions of other dogs to play with and show off on IG.

Here we go again!

The Thai Authorities aren't going to do anything!

I was thinking the same thing. Thais, mostly treat animals as toys. They have to perform tricks or look funny.

Any dog who bites any human being in a serious manner should be put down within 24 hours no questions asked and no appeals possible. Dogs should never be given priority over humans and doing so is a sign of a broken society. Not only that but the owner should face a massive fine. There's just no excuse to have a poorly behaved dog who's aggressive toward others, especially defenseless children.

Quite agree. No sympathy for people who have these dogs and then get mauled. But the dogs also go after other people especially innocent children. Punishment for the owners should be at least the same as if they committed the attack themselves. I can't go for a walk here in the countryside because of the aggressive dogs.

What is described as a picture of the victim shows her next to a dog apparently wearing dark glasses. Very odd. I wonder how this dog was really being treated.

Not agree at all, I don't understand why people adopt dangerous dogs : there are other nice dogs , pitbulls and similar should be forbidden ; from the start, dangerous and agressive dogs

i am sorry and not sorry for this woman ; I hope she will adopt other sort of dogs in the future

and putting  glasses on the dog is a big lack of respect

pick a story from most any country or city in the world that starts out with somebody was killed or  mauled by a dog and you will win a lot of $$ betting that it will be identified as a pit bull...bred to fight with a bite strength beyond comprhension..yes sure there are a few "sweet little things" and there will always be those who blame the owner but in the end they were not intended to be pets and should never be breed and sold or given to anyone....ever.  Seems the only way some people learn this is when their kid gets mauled or killed by the sweet little thing and then they have to live with their stupid decision the rest of their lives.

The problem for the vets is the paperwork on obtaining the correct drugs.

I, and some close friends, have all had dogs.

Sadly, there comes a time when it is more humane to let them go.

None of us have had a problem with the vet doing this.

He even arranges for them to be cremated.

The difference is that we have all taken the dogs to the vet for their regular check ups and vaccinations.

There is a medical history card for each of them.

This, officially recorded history, makes it easy for the vet to obtain the drugs.

(I am hoping to sign up with the vet as a dog )

having said that, there may be some vets with strong belief's against euthanising dogs.

However, most vets understand that it is better for the poor things when the time comes.

Not sure of the rules when it comes to dangerous dogs.

So what's wrong with a bullet?

My sister had a properly trained Rottweiler and closer to 10 years old it sometimes started to behave aggressively. One day it bit a kid very badly. When they took the dog back their car they noticed that if you approached the dog from the side back it got very stressed, When they took the dog to the vet to be put down they noticed it they tried to pet the dog on the hip it tended to bite. An X-ray showed that the dog has developed a very bad hip on one side and was probably in great pain if some one touched or petted it.

So even very properly trained dogs might get issues causes them to bite.

The abbot issued a warning to the public about adopting stray or rescued dogs. “We may love and feel compassion for them, but if we haven’t raised them from a young age, they can be unpredictable. The risk is real.”

Sad he didn't follow his own advice... and not allow the dog to be in the care of another person.

Sympathetic dog lovers don't always make the best owners, these breeds need training not cuddles.

Sad. Pits are lovely dogs if raised right. But the dog obviously had been abused when it was young. That's why these things usually happen.

As a dog lover I understand.

But we adopt all of our dogs as pups. Then we don't have this kind of issue.

nonsense

so all the pit bull attacks were because the dog had a sore hip .....

thai's won't learn anything.

But those animals are not only in Thailand but in many countries across the world. Thailand's biggest animal problem is finding a vet to euthanise ANY animal, be the animal sick and dying, or something like this dog which should never been born and should be put down humanely asap.

I am sure that this sort of thing happens every week or two in Thailand and I have no doubt there will be posters on here saying that their pet is cuddly, lovely and  would never harm a soul. That is all well and good, until it turns and does bite someone or kills a baby or a toddler.

There is NO logical reason to own a dog like that, and IMHO the sooner the entre breed is removed from the world the better.

Shame the dog wasn't raised properly. Probably grew up on a chain and disciplined with a stick. Sounds like he's being kept in a storage room most of the day and didn't want to be put back in there after a brief outing.

Too late now though, with his history he needs to be put down although it can be difficult to find a vet prepared to do that in Thailand.

Regarding it's upbringing: you are just speculating. Just guessing. You actually have NO IDEA how it was brought up. Pit bulls are dreadful dogs and in the UK & USA their owners, no better.

These dogs are like that. Stupidity breeds stupidity in both dogs and people who like them.

How about you adopting it then?

It should've been euthanised when it entered the pet shelter. It's about time the Government banned pit bulls and made it a serious offense to own one.

Doesn't work.

Years ago there was planned to tax the dog owners.

As soon it went public hardly nobody owned a dog.

Too many halfwits are polluting this thread with the same tired drivel - 'there's no such thing as a bad dog, only bad owners.' ...... The kind of saccharine, brain-dead platitude people parrot when they’ve never encountered the raw, inbuilt aggression some breeds carry like a second skin.

Yes, a skilled owner might be able to suppress the ticking time-bomb of violence bred into certain dogs - but that's precisely the point.....  Other breeds don't come pre-packaged with that kind of volatile wiring. You’d have to go out of your way to brutalise them before they lash out.

With these 'Bull Terrier based breed....   It’s just a matter of time and circumstance, the stats speak for themselves.

Utter crap. Pit Bulls are a mixed breed and they are bred for one reason only they are killers. I've seen a few in a action, a friend of mine had one and after 3-4 years living with a German Shepherd dog it ripped it guts out and nearly tore the face off his elderly mother. He made the right decision and went upstairs and got his shot gun and blew it's head off. As I've said repeatedly it's up to the Thai Government to ban them and if laws are ignored there are large fines and the dog euthanised.
