A video of an inebriated foreign tourist walking stark naked through the streets of Phuket has sparked outrage and debate among locals and netizens.

The incident, captured on 29th April 2025 and shared via the Facebook page "โหดจัง จังหวัดภูเก็ต," features the tourist casually wandering down Rattanakosin 200-Year Road in Phuket’s Mueang district, striking poses reminiscent of a fashion runway and seemingly unconcerned with his surroundings.

The bizarre behaviour has prompted a flurry of online discussions, with many questioning the implications of Thailand’s visa-free entry policy. Some users have voiced concerns that the policy could be attracting a larger number of tourists who do not respect local values and are more prone to causing disturbances.

The footage drew mixed reactions. Some commenters speculated about the legal consequences, wondering if such acts of public indecency would prompt criminal charges. Others responded with humour, suggesting comical methods to prevent such behaviour, such as using a slingshot to fend off indecent tourists.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the tourist had emerged nude from a nearby hotel and proceeded to make his way along the road with little regard for the attention he attracted. This incident has led to broader discussions about the quality of tourists visiting Thailand and whether the liberal visa policy is inviting unruly visitors.

Local authorities have yet to confirm whether any action will be taken against the tourist, but the incident has undoubtedly put a spotlight on the issues of tourist conduct and immigration policies in the country. The situation prompts a larger dialogue on how Thailand can balance attracting international visitors while maintaining public decency and order.

I think its pretty much excepted now  that a woman doesn't have a "shlong"

though ridiculously  it took a high court judgement in the UK.

Had to wait until paragraph 2 to get the 'this must be the visa free system' nonsense.

If anyone thinks that this behaviour is connected to the length of stay allowed, then let's only let people enter the country for 3 hours in the afternoon or from midnight until 11am.

No security at the hotel he apparently walked out of to stop him and call the police?

I hope RTP locked him up and will send him back to where he came from. And stamp his passport. Banned for lifetime.

Or/and let him run through the streets, properly tarred and feathered 😂

What's the problem? It's laundry day!

Why should people get outraged so often? Can't they just get used to it? They have lots of "quality" tourists there, just bear with it.

It's actually "sow the wind".

It appears to me that the real culprit is the tourist's home country and the low standards that they have for issuing their travel documents (aka passports).  Name them and shame them.  If they're from the US, we'll just blame it on the Republicans or the Democrats. Doesn't matter which. They'll both just ignore it.  (Reminds me of the really fat guy that flew here a few years ago and convinced the flight attendant to wipe his dirty end. May he RIP)

Any country that wants to have a robust tourism economy has to welcome tourists. Therefore, removing the visa-free policy isn't the answer. Furthermore, Thailand is still fascinating as well as relatively inexpensive and this attracts all sorts. The only way to drill the 'you are welcome as long as you follow our laws and respect local culture' message is enforcement. Swift and strict enforcement, without exception. For example, idiots like this should be arrested, fined and deported - immediately. Subsequent batches will be more well-behaved, once the message goes out that you really can't literally 'do as you please without consequences' in Thailand.

But, we all know what 'enforcement' is like in Thailand. It's non-existent, except in high-profile cases and those meted out by Soi-6 security chaps. So until the authorities wake up and start doing something FOR THEIR OWN COUNTRY, local folks as well as decent tourists will have to bear the brunt of this crap.

Thailand has achieved, of its own making, a terrible reputation throughout the world. If the police don’t act , lock them up a few days , fine them , then it won’t go away. Stop the motor bike crazies, drunk drivers and people who think they can make porn movies on a pavement in broad daylight ( pattaya last month). Thailand wasn’t like that before. It’s become a swamp of  the lowest of the low.
