A pit bull in Uthai Thani province mauled a two-month-old baby girl to death in a heartbreaking incident this afternoon. The tragic event unfolded when the baby's parents, junk dealers, were visiting a house to purchase second-hand goods. At 2:40 p.m., Amarin TV reported that police received a notification, prompting a team to rush to the baby's attack scene.

The police in Khao Bang Kraek, Nong Chang district, found the situation tense as the pit bull remained loose within the property. Officers hesitated to exit their vehicle until the dog's owner secured the animal. Bloodstains were discovered near a baby carrycot and toys, trailing six metres to a drain, marking the grim event's location.

The homeowner revealed she had invited Mr. Dusit, a junk dealer, and his wife, Ms. Kanthima, to her home to buy old items. They brought their newborn daughter, leaving her in a carrycot in the yard. As they gathered goods, the homeowner's pit bull named Big followed her outside, sniffed the child, and then unexpectedly attacked.

The dog owner attempted to intervene, prompting Big to release the infant, but the injuries were severe. The devastated parents transported their daughter to the hospital, yet she succumbed to her injuries. The incident leaves community members mourning and questioning safety around animals.

Key Takeaways:

  • A pit bull fatally attacked a two-month-old baby in Uthai Thani province.
  • The baby's parents were engaged in buying second-hand goods during the tragic event.
  • Authorities are investigating, and the community is in shock over the tragedy.

Once again, these type of animals are not destroyed.

Most of them (dogs) are relocated to other homes.

Why do the people that own these breeds just let them wander around as they please. Time and time again here the same breed with owners that just let the dog do as it pleases.

Utterly tragic but why would you leave a baby that young sitting alone anywhere .

Again, we have the selected breeds, that wants to kill, have an instinct to kill, and are totally uncontrollable. Still people in charge does not get, that they need to be all from banned with high fines to simply put down. How many more children have to die, and how many more have to get serious injuries before they understand?

Ooooh Noooo !!!  not another tragedy! I nearly screamed when reading this. How many deaths have we read about in these pages over the years.???

Oh dear, I just love babies and no wonder > "The incident leaves community members mourning and questioning safety around animals. "

😭

I really like dogs in general. But like it or not, some breeds just "have it " in them, and it is not a "vue de l'esprit".

Pit bulls and small lakes seem to kill lots of kids here. Dont parents read the news?

HOW MANY TIMES do we need to hear of these deaths/ attacks from these killing machines before they actually do some thing about it  - BAN THEM!!!

Where they will probably end up repeating their behaviour!!!

".....................and then unexpectedly attacked."

This is what they do! Why don't the authorities realise this (as they have done in many countries) - that these pit bulls are ALL unpredictable!😡

The dog is not a Pitbull, looking at the picture it's an XL Bully.

The owner was on the Thai news this morning, said his dog thought the child was a doll to play with.☹️

Agree.

Looks like an XL bully, possibly even with a bit of mastiff in there.

Still, mentioning a "Pitbull" in a headline always gets the attention.

No matter what the breed, it's a very bad idea to leave a newborn baby on the ground where unknown dogs are roaming around the area. Especially if it's on the dogs territory and the dog is not familiar with the baby.

Very sad.

Put this horrific beast down within the next 24 hours. And punish the owner in a very severe manner. It's the only reasonable solution to these horrific tragedies.

Most dogs are jerks.

Rarely met a dog I liked.

That's why cats are way better.

Cats don't maul people to death.

RIP young one

Pit Bulls receive a bad rap because they’re often used in dog fighting, which can lead to them being seen as a more dangerous breed. It’s important to note that these dogs are usually trained to be aggressive. All dogs are individuals, and not all Pit Bulls are dangerous. According to a recent study, irresponsible ownership is the cause of most aggressive behavior in any dog.

Put all these devil dogs down.

They have no place on this planet.

Extinction is what's needed. :bah:

R.I.P. Little girl.

1) In LOS what are the consequences for the dog owner? 2) Will the parents will receive compensation? I ask because it seems to me in LOS the lowest status folks in this society are entitled to  little to nothing when they are victims.  I mean their baby was mauled to death.

When does the said, vicious pit bull get euthanised?

Talk about compensation after the dog is put to death.

Can't understand the Thai mentality in these cases

RIP you precious child

No, all pitbulls.

Because how you can police how the owners are raising their pitbulls?

Maybe some owners raise them to not be murderous, but you would need to police all pitbull owners to know who is doing what.

No dog of any breed should be allowed near children of any age.

The number of posts on FB of proud parents putting their new borns and children together with the 'pet' dog is insane.

(I own an EBT....so not anti-dog)

Well most of you guys are wrong here, yes the dog did attack and kill a baby but it was the parents first who are to blame.

Did they know the dog was there? Did the owner warn them or was even aware?

The dog was not running loose but was contained in the yard.

Also have to say of course the parents did not mean anything like this to happen but imagine a poor family trying to make a living .

They need to take the child along with them because no one else can look after it.

Things went wrong and now people are blaming the dog.

When you judge your neighbor judge him hard, but first look in your own backyard.

RIP that poor little soul.

Bit daft of new parents to 'leave an infant in the yard in a stranger's house'

But to all those on here who berate people for owning these types of dogs, you're wasting your time. Most of them probably can't read, and certainly wouldn't come on this forum and 101% wouldn't listen to reason from others. The human race has an underbelly of scumbags who will either want to 'own' these animals (but not give them the exercise and stimulation that they need) and those who are happy to profit financially from breeding them.

Yes, should've left the Baby in a Aircon  car for the safety  for everyone ,one never knows if there are dogs rooming around.they should've know better.Too late now RIP.

A lot of folks are blaming the parents for leaving the child in the yard.  I bet this has happened many times (not just these parents); why would they ever think that their baby would be attacked?  This is definitely on the dog's owner for failing to train effectively and not securing the dog when they have visitors.
