The ban on the sale of alcohol will be lifted on Sunday, 3 May.

The announcement has already been made in the Royal Gazette.

Restaurants will still be prohibited from serving alcohol on the premises but people will be allowed to purchase alcohol from convenience stores to take home.

Public gatherings and people meeting to drink in public is still prohibited.

Bars and pub will also remain closed.

Further details regarding the lifting of the ban will be announced on Saturday, the government said.

This is a developing news story. This post may be updated.

Will be interesting to see the number of days if they go down that road.

Of course if it's abused it will be quickly brought back.

Oh happy days I wonder why they changes their minds public pressure through social media?
Oh Noo!! Seems now there might be some misunderstanding over the issue better wait for official confirmation.
I can't imagine they can go back on this now it's in all the news though.

It's a start. Hopefully many more restrictions will be lifted sooner rather than later as well.

Will it be up to each individual province though?

However the final decision in each province rests with the local governor.

"General Somsak Rungsita, Secretary-General of the National Security Council, said that from the issue Liquors and spirits can be bought back from the store. But can not sit and drink in the shop Effective on May 3, which is expected on May 2, B.E., will declare all details again. Which the Ministry of Interior will coordinate with the provincial governor To understand the aforementioned measures And is the power of the provincial governor to consider and approve in each area again."

Isn't 4th May a non-alcohol day?

Wooo Hoooo! ????

This’ll dampen the mood of the boring, holier than thou tee totallers on here.. ????

Cheers! ????

Imagine the rush there is going to be as panicky drinkers stock up for Armageddon. If there have been no deliveries what supplies that are still out there could soon get snapped up with people fighting to get a look in.

Of course , if it is not just a one day wonder that scenario is not applicable.

Ok All You Whiners from other related posts:

Run to the stores and stock up on your favorite adult beverages b4 the rule changes again.

With all the money you've conserved during this "Prohibition", you should be able to deplete 7-11, Big C, Tesco, Foodland, etc., of their alcoholic beverages.

I hope the POS (point of sale) machines don't fail during Your purchase.   ????????

Thanks Thai Bev/Chang. I love you !
