Ban Muang reported that the Korat Hall on the fourth floor of Central Nakhon Ratchasima was lively yesterday as Thai nationals and foreigners turned up to register and receive their first doses of vaccine for Covid-19.

The media talked to two British people, an American and a Swede who expressed their thanks and confidence in the Thai rollout saying "it didn't hurt at all - like an ant bite".

They were married to Thais or language teachers.

Drinks company Ososapha had a booth and ten employees handing out tonic drink M-150 and vitamin supplement beverages for free.

The event came as the province that is the gateway to Thailand's north eastern region reported one new death bringing the total from Covid-19 to 9.

The latest case was a 39 year old male in Muang district who was not overweight or suffering from underlying health conditions and had contracted the virus from a friend in Rayong.

There have now been 898 cases in Korat.

I personally wouldn't be so delighted knowing I just got jabbed with Sainovac.

Why does everything official in COVID Thailand include huge numbers of people sitting together for hours in a room? Do the Thai authorities not understand contagion?

  • I was going to say something, but I would more than likely be suspended, so I will say, good luck to them and move on........

Obvious publicity stunt, but driven by a good motivation. Keep up the good work. (B+)

It makes for impressive photos, regardless of whatever they're doing. The implication of course is that they might all be doing something. Like most of my school meetings and activities. A cherished Thai tradition.

Difficult to educate the brain dead

Most likely a PR stunt to appease International Embassies.
What counts is the total of Expats who have been vaccinated.
Just a few days ago Richard Barrow tweeted he had been turned down for a Jab after successfully registering 3 weeks ago.
Also those Expats don't look to be over 60 how did they qualify?
We should have a counter on TV to count how many members have received the Jab and how many have been refused.

That crowd all look Thai to me, I don't see any expats.

My 40 year old Thai friend and all his family including kids have an appointment to get vaccinated on the 7th June even offered me one but I don't want the Sinovac.
It's all about how important you are in Thailand.

Sure. But farangs fall in a different category.

Embassie staff, older then 60, etc....

You must be a very important person, well done Sir.

A single person sitting alone doesn’t make for good PR photo

Just spoke to my mother in law........all of the health workers in the villages surrounding their provincial town have refused the vaccine..........if they won't take it I can't see any of the locals having a jab.

great, but i am jealous, cause in Bangkok we will not see anything like this, because all officials are already vaccinated

Interesting. Does being married to a language teacher give priority in the vaccine queue?

I understand: they were married or they were language teachers.

A bit show off, as usual.

Thailand has 65 M people, German has 80 M people.

That close, put the output of vax people is in German around 1.4 M per day. They are almost through.

It doesn’t, they are assuming it is Sinovac

Recent studies show in Brazil and Indonesia that Sinovav real world reasults are doing better than the  results reported in the test phase.  Then again, there are some who just can't resist from pissing on someone's parade (smile).

Should have seen the scrum, scramble, melee, fracas that was the hundreds of unregistered Thais that turned up when Pattaya started vaccination at the indoor arena, crazy scenes mate.

No you didn't miss.

Seems they simply didn't find it worth mentioning.

Because really: what is available in significant numbers?
Other stuff is promises only.

Very important information.

Taking a Chinese vaccine to cure the Wuhan Flu, what a joke. With a 41.6% efficacy I wouldn’t bother taking the Sinovac shot.

Common understanding it that at present Thailand only has sinovac to offer. AZ production is due to start being distributed in June. Moderna etc only available in October.

it’s possible they had AZ from local production but if they had, I think it would have been announced with great fanfare.

weighing up the possibilities, I’d say it’s 99.9% sure they had sinovac.

but you are right, it didn’t say it in the article.

Probably English teachers.

Is it not the only one available at the moment - thank you Mr Anutin (Astro Zeneca due in June?)

Pretty damn selfish if you refuse it.
