Phuket Sandbox: All tourists to wear location tracking wristbands

Featured Replies

The GPS enabled wristband will be able to inform the authorities of the exact location of each tourist on the island.

Just like sex offenders back home. I can see this being very popular with tourists.

They really do not want ANY tourists do they?

I wouldn't bother ordering too many of those wristband trackers, a shoe box full will be enough. The only people coming are going to be long term stayers returning or business people who have no choic

  • That's it!   The final nail in the coffin for the Phuket Sandpit.   They will be lucky if they reach double figures when they open with draconian measures such as these.

Can't get more Orwellian than that!

Don't worry. I am sure they will think of something next week.

The sandbox original proposal looked ok , something which many people could get along with . Then the "upgrades" to 14d , and now a wristband , , you got to be joking right ? Is it 1 April ? Good luck finding a tourist who does want to do that ... I rather take the 2 weeks locked in room then doing that .

They should rebrand this as “Phuket Prison Island Simulator.” The wristband doubles as a heart rate/blood pressure monitor.

If either passes a very narrow threshold (like when you get drunk or have sex). The BMW smart car is alerted and public safety representatives will SWOOP in and escort you to mandatory 24hr hospital quarantine and PCR testing for 10000 baht to make sure you aren’t coming down with covid.

What Clowns running Thailand "Come to Sunny Phuket be just like a convict" great advert I think

If we catch you in the naughty Massage places will inform your wife

another reason why no one will go back to Thailand. The people coming up with these thing are really low IQ-idiots ????????????

I never doubted Orwell's 1984.

You really need to have a very strong reason ( meet your wife, children, etc) to accept to go through all this bullshxx. I do understand some forms of limitations and control, but if you put everything togheter (COE, insurance, etc) that's really too much.

They just don't have a clue how to attract tourists to come .

By imposing more limitations and covid tests to somebody who comes for a holiday they make themselves a laughing stock ...

I will just sit back and watch all their efforts ... fail .

And laugh ...

so just now ONLY foreign tourists allowed.

no one from Thailand can enter.

of course this had to be. so i am not allowed to go. or thai tourists.

Guess the upside of only allowing foreign tourists in, rather than locals, is that foreign tourists may not be aware of the endemic corruption and scams that Phuket is well known for, So hence apart from foreigners being subjected to draconian measures they can be ripped off until their day of departure.

Have the clowns any idea of how bloody stupid that scheme is?

So they expect tourists  to flock to Phuket to be treated the same as criminals, dream on morons, it aint gonna happen.

Are these clowns determined to destroy Phuket tourism forever?

Certainly appears that way.

You could have summed all that in one word.... fools

How much are they gonna charge all these tourist (in there dreams) for the privilege of wearing basically what westerners Will see as a criminal tracker device

This is necessary in addition to microchipping each tourist upon making landfall on the Sandbox.  Look we can't be too careful or others would think us callow.

So correct me if lm wrong, you need to have 2 shots of an experimental drug and be apart of the largest human trials in history, quarantine for 14 days, have 3 pcr test during your quarantine, have a COE, have Covid insurance, go to a place were 80% of businesses are closed, I'm sure l have missed a few and now wear a wrist tracking device, and to get ready for the mass influx of tourists have had a full rehersal at Phuket airport for there Sandbox re-opening,  they just forgot 1 very important point NO ONE IS COMING and subject themselves to this absurdity

They'll be made in China so won't work for 14 days anyhow ????

If it's still working after the second day just take a swim.

Are they Serious? .

No one in their right mind is going to put up with this over the top rules and regulations + the gps band Cr@p

tell me more, i will respect your points

Entry point immigration - "what's your phone number?" why? - "we're going to use it to track you while you are in Thaiand". OK. "One other thing, wear this bracelet" - Why?  "we are going to tell everyone we are using it to track you".
