Thailand on Thursday (June 24) reported 4,108 new COVID-19 cases and 31 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

● 3,879 new infections
● 229 prison / prison infections

Thursdays’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 232,647 with 1,775 deaths.
(Total infections since April 1: 203,784)

The news comes as the U.S. embassy in Thailand on Wednesday turned down a direct appeal to fly in coronavirus vaccines for its citizens but said the U.S. government was taking actions to boost vaccine access worldwide.

Well the situation overall is getting worse and nobody with any sense can say different.

I thought it might be a backlog of spike proteins that built up while they were processing the weekend artifact backlog.Even the Czar seems like he's considering a lockdown.

Oh Danders were the covid numbers of 4000+ still just an artifact?  This is a very troubling issue with the numbers growing and settling into the 4k range possibly. Bangkok is not the only province with expanding cases.

Troubling indeed and one can only hope that more effective measures are now placed as outlined by Thailand's own health specialists. Unfortunately the politics is currently standing in the way.

In another news outlet a Dr. Somsak the director general of the Department of Medical Services says that at this rate the medical system will collapse and new infections may move into 5 digits. Danders my friend you have once again forecasted. You should be wary.

This isn’t an artifact, this is just bad.

it looks like 4,000 cases a day will soon be the new normal.

This is without adequate pro active testing and also hospitals limiting testing due to the bed shortage. The situation is heading south quickly and something now needs to be done quickly to avoid a collapse of the health system.

Do you think the "7-day lockdown" mooted for Bangkok will do any good?

4000 a day won't be the new normal. An upward trajectory will be the norm until more restrictions are put in place and vaccine uptake is much higher.

No. 1 month minimum more like 2 months. Allow people to travel home which will spread the virus but then lockdown the entire country for 1 month and see how things are going.
