If you intend mixing with Thai ladies, I suggest T shirt with "I'm fully vaccinated" better option.

One rider* under no circumstances include the word sinovac.

It actually may work better than expected...some Thai ladies might confuse 'vaccinated' with 'vasectomized'...open borders here we come

  • Sign me up. Refund policy can't be worse than AirAsia.

  • Only in Thailand, you have to pay upfront for a vaccine, which MAYBE you then will receive in the next 6 months.   I guess the main reason they lowered the price is because they didn't colle

  • Well it is good news in a way, but I am concerned about putting 100% down on this.

Not worse that Thai though!

So private hospitals in Thailand are so "poor" that they cannot afford to buy vaccines?  Hard to believe.  I have contributed(paid) a small fortune to a major private hospital in CNX for years and they always had a lot of people 'working".

I will not "pay" upfront without a few guarantees:

1.  A definite vaccination appointment date

2  Guaranteed 100% refund if the appointment is not met

3. The right to cancel within 30 days of the appointment with a full refund

I already know the answer:  NO, NO, and NO.

My ex country of Serbia managed to get a large stock of Sinopharm (not Sinovac)  vaccines back in January. They had a large surplus of vaccines including Pfizer and AZ and they were giving them away to any foreign national who happened to be in Serbia. No registration, no payment... free, free, free.

How come Thailand's Chinese brothers are giving them to Serbia and not Thailand? Don't you just find this extremely interesting?

Just one more question, does anyone know if partners/wives or boyfriends/husbands, or in my case a Thai girlfriend can also be signed up & paid for ? If anyone gets any info can you post here please, thanks.

Probably not.

But it depends on that hospital or hospital network's Moderna customer booking system.

I would have the partner/GF, etc. make their own registration, and payment. Then reimiburse them. Keep it simple.

FYI many of these hospital groups are over-subscribed. Now they'll winnow down customers by requiring pre-payment.

Well the old excuse used to be having to treat uninsured foreigners!

Yeah.... Now that an order is finally being placed (maybe) you definitely don't want to buy too much at this point given how such a large fraction of the population have been vaccinated and how happy Thais are with the Chinese vaccines.  After all, the economy is fine, people are happy and hopeful, there are no lockdowns and pandemics offer wonderful opportunities for on-the-job-training for leadership with no experience in or respect for public health and infectious diseases.

Nope.  Not one more of those filthy western vaccines than is absolutely necessary.

Yeah, it's probably a mix of cash-flow (down as no foreign customers) and risk mitigation.

Some hospitals could afford the payment, but remember this is about a consortium (PHA), and a single order (GPO), and the GPO needs their cut.

I suspect this will be very, very messy,

Maybe not Hopewell messy, but certainly fire-truck messy.

I find this disgusting. Thailand is one of the few countries doing this. India tried to do the private sector format too and we see how well that turned out, no?  India government had to take back private sector vaccine distribution because it was an absolute failure. The people who will be signing up for the moderna vaccine will be those who least need it. Being old in itself is not a high risk. What we have seen to date is that the people who are getting sick and dying are the poor and those who work in health primary care.  The people who can afford to pay for vaccine are the people able to isolate, to order online, to afford hand sanitizer, clean masks and to drive private car or take taxi. The people who must be given priority are those exposed every day and who can easily spread. People like Public transit workers, service industry workers. Why must Thailand  use distribution model that failed in India and that countries with effective roll out do not use?

This is such a farce, and I think this is public theater. Moderna is behind in deliveries to countries who ordered a year ago and all of a sudden, Thailand will get priority? It looks to me like Thailand cannot afford to buy vaccine up front and must raise money from people who wish to buy peace of mind. Most everywhere else, the government buys on behalf of public.    Sorry, but this stinks like week old haring.

A nurse friend of mine signed me up at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital ???? a couple days ago...hope it actually gets here.

Well Pattaya Memorial hospital started a list on 20 June, and swiftly closed it down the following day, me & the Mrs were both registered there for Moderna, hopefully all the others will be the same, and don't forget many Thais use these facilities, much more than expats.

Well good luck.... I expect that to be at least as effective as the websites.....

I'd bet my last dollar that thousands of Thais and foreigners have signed up on every list they can find, and will take the first jab that's offered (or the first free one, or the best price) and stiff every other venue.

Asking for something in advance just makes sense.  Maybe not 100%, but hey, run it up the flagpole and see who salutes.

Exactly.

Getting on "the list" is the easy part. And is but the first of a hundred steps. Yes, I know about the begining of any journey.

My completely random predictions:

Moderna will be available Q1, probably February (2022), with maybe a first delivery of 1 MM doses.

Pfizer only available for children/young adults (and upper crust Thais).

AZ for the middle classes.

Sinostuff for the masses.

Foreigners? Meh.

(Yes, I'll stipulate that some foreigners have received one or more doses of a vaccine to date.)

Just called Bangkok hospital Bangkok, they do not have Government permission yet to buy and bring in vaccines, you won't being buying anything July 1.......she did mention that there will be equality regarding vaccine queue's, good news for expats IF it happens that way........

I am pretty sure the hospitals will have to pay up front. And the vaccine has only a limited shelf life. I understand that they don't just order amount x only to find out that the demand is not what they expected.

As long as they have a fair refund policy I don't think paying up front is a problem.

No it would be too good to be true and possible for the government to be a little generous when it comes to the health of its citizens ☹️

No.

Available from many hopsital networks.

Check with private hospitals in your area.

Thanks

That should be easy as there is only one in my province and it's only 3 hours away.

Isn't that special.

A random front-line employee answering the phone states some sort of government policy.

Thailand/equality. Good one.

Just going to use that 3,400 to subsidize a ticket back to the US in October. Need to get back anyway. Will be nice to get away from the "Zombie mask culture" for awhile.

And as if knowing how much they need, effects how much they can actually get ????. They just want the cash in the till ASAP. Every dose they can lay their hands on is already spoken for.

That makes 2 of us, I'd be prepared to pay 50% up front, balance on receipt of 1st jab.

Im  going to wait  until  they bring out an updated  delta  killing  variant

The government?

Its citizens?

Which government and which citizens?

As far as I know everybody in Thailand is supposed to get free vaccination. It just takes time.

We don't live in a so called 1st world country. And looking at 1st world counties like i.e. the USA and the UK and am happy about that.

The GPO and Zuellig will be completing contractual matters next week.

Ah yes, the GPO, or the "official go between" as they labeled themselves last week, have sealed a deal.

Only last week they were saying that their attorneys would be ratifying the agreement with Zuellig Pharma in August.
