Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), was criticized by members of the public on Thursday for suggesting that people wear masks inside their homes to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“If we still have to wear masks even when inside the safe vicinity of our own homes, how are we supposed to be living now?” tweeted one person.

The suggestion came after reports of the recent spike in coronavirus cases being linked to infections at home and among family members. It was announced during a press conference held by Dr Kiattipoom Wongrachit, the permanent secretary of the ministry.

If the government had done their job correctly and ordered a reputable class of vaccinations earlier there would not be any need of this stupidity !!!!

Probably best to wear one if you're doing online shopping.

Did I not say that this would be a possible next move several weeks ago on another OP.  I was beaten down and chastised by many, but lo and behold here it rears it's ugly head, I hate to say ".........." so I wont.

In the car at home, in your bed...... wear a mask ... even if you are alone at home, don't lower your protection..And Prayuth will wwatch you and take care of you. The Czar has everything under control. In 1789 the people in France did the right thing. The people should follow that example

Better off wearing a gas mask as a face mask will not help, even an N95 wont do the job.  Better to use some Vick's Vapor-rub under your nose like I used to have to use when we went to view autopsy's.

I could see this advise making sense if you had someone isolating at home who had a confirmed positive test and the government supplied the household with medical grade masks, but masks currently being worn by the masses are pretty much useless, plus the fact that since there is little testing going on there is no way to know if someone in a household is asymptomatic

as repeated on here every day there are three things that are vitally important

- mass testing

- mass vaccination with effective vaccines

- limiting travel across the country

fail fail and fail

fail fail and fail

If they are "isolating at home, then they should be in a separate area of the home without contact with other dwellers.

Ideally own bathroom, meals delivered safely outside a closed door.

Unfortunately in most homes, this is impossible, especially in lower socio-economic communities.

Has anyone considered that for smokers, where it's illegal to smoke at home and compulsory to wear a mask outside of home... have they all quit or are breaking the law?

I guess they'll be launching an app for people to take a selfie every 30 minutes to prove they are wearing their masks - 'Rao Ngee Ngow' maybe? Launching alongside the Phuket TukTuk drivers app 'Rao Kamoy'.  ????

Anutin rarely manages to wear one even out in public.

I'm afraid "do as I say not as I do" doesn't really cut it.

Sadly it is another day of climbing deaths.  Soon it will look like the countries to the west and east across the big ponds.  Nothing to slow down the growth except for vaccines, and yet mask wearing inside your house has been suggested.  The GF wants to get vaccinated but being from Myanmar she is having a hell of a time getting registered,

Don't wish to rub it in but if she was in UK, Oz, etc she would not face discrimination.

And banned travel during Songkran would have helped

You Sir are 100% correct

Should be able to register for Moderna. Private hospitals don't care where anyone is from. If she has Line she can add THG group or apply at Vibhavadi or Sukhumvit hospital, if she's in Bangkok.

I've told American friends about the Pattaya requirement to wear a mask in your car. They just stood there amazed and confused. So obviously it is good for tourism.

If people are forced to quarantine within their own homes, having contracted covid, then it is a logical for the infected person to wear a mask....perhaps this is what they meant?

This is a clever Government blame shifting ploy.  "We told you to wear masks at home and that's why there is such a rapid increase in infected people".  All the fault of "Joe Public", not the Government's ineffective management of the pandemic.

Probably by encouraging neighbours or "good citizens" to dob their neighbours in for non-mask wearing or congregating.

Same as the UK, last year. Ramping up the fear to get people queuing for the "cure".
