Something new is happening...?

Staying in a hotel in Phuket for quite some time now ( escaping from BKK ).

Its clear the hotel staff are on high alert now, ie asking people to distance, and staff no longer bring food service the room. ( come to th door, but you need to take it in yourself ).

Seems something is happing with Phuket COVID situation ? Maybe just re-inforcing rules, but its obvious

Nothing will change until: One: the Thai government must understand, that there is NO such thing as a zero case strategy and Two: they better start to buy 100 million doses of REAL vaccines

  • Maybe it's worth repeating a zillion times, the current vaccines, while they "aren't guaranteed to be effective against Delta" or "(Delta will be) something else", they are in the 90 plus percent effe

  • That's looking at it all wrong. In the US, with around 50% fully vaccinated,  about 99% of those in the ICU are not fully vaccinated. The pandemic there is now a pandemic only for the unvaccinated.

both true but the issue with number two is the delays, I keep seeing they will get 10 million doses of X, Y and Z but they say Q1 2022

by the time they would get 100 million doses of anything that works NOW (Delta? etc) then the virus will have changed and it won't be effective anymore

they would get 100M of Delta variant vaccine in like June next year and by that time they would have the Echo and Foxtrot variant..

Israel had very high % of people vaccinated with Pfizer and I saw news a week or so ago that 40% of the new cases were people that were already vaccinated.

now it's "Vaccine was 39% effective at reducing infection risk and 91% effective at preventing severe illness, Health Ministry says"

But the current vaccines aren't guaranteed to be effective against Delta as when they were engineered Delta didn't exist, the virus has mutated since then.

exactly, and by the time they get 100 million doses of whichever current vaccine .. regardless of if it's effective for Delta, Delta will be something else.

Maybe it's worth repeating a zillion times, the current vaccines, while they "aren't guaranteed to be effective against Delta" or "(Delta will be) something else", they are in the 90 plus percent effective in keeping people alive and out of the ICU and that's is something that is part of the workable solution for now, something that people can LIVE with. Keep harping about vaccines not effective against any Greek alphabet variant du jour is not seeing the forest for the trees.

so whats the survival rate for people who don't have the vaccines, 97% ?

more like 99.8%......better odds than taking an 'mRNA vaccine'? I'm sure I heard of the big pharmas say their drugs were only 95% successful......and even that is probs a lie, successful at what? keeping you alive? ????

folk seem to forget your immune system on it's own is actually pretty good at that ????

So go for the Darwin award, covid edition, and don't get vaccinated. If you're too stupid to get vaccinated, you likely shouldn't procreate anyway.

Exactly, those who decide to take the vaccine must realize that there will be many vaccines to take in the near future because this epidemic will remain permanent.

Thanks vaccine.

Preserving the lives of the old and the sick, at the expense of the lives of the young and the fit, probably isn't in the best interests of 'mankind'.

Unlike politics and dis-information, vaccines don't discriminate, they save human lives, young old and anywhere in between, period. Not only that they spare you the experience of checking into ICU, having a tube down your chest, and you trying to breathe as if someone ties a plastic bag around your head. Vaccines give your system enough defense so that you can recuperate in the comfort of your home, in case if (or very possibly, with people around you not vaccinated and pretending they were and therefore not wearing masks) you are hit with whatever Covid variant du jour. Keep your info straight - and your guards up as always - folks!

In Maikhao they have again covid check points and let only locals pass into the village 555.....totally over! Good that they know my face so i passed easy.

Agree. Sometimes the vaccine itself is more dangerous than the virus. I heard a young lady died recently after taking the second dose.

Agree. Sometimes you find a needle in a haystack.

The US is currently injecting teenagers with an experimental biotech product of which the corporations have full legal immunity should anything go wrong. This is being done to prevent deaths of elderly co-morbid people who are statistically at the end of their lives and presumably vaccinated themselves anyways. Let that sink in.

I've never bothered with vaccination ... made it to 65 without being dead or seriously ill. Only had flu twice, COVID once, a cold every 4-5 years ..........

Guess I've just been lucky.

Have you ever met a young person?  They’re idiots.

If all the old people die, humankind just becomes one large TikTok video factory.

Yes that's true of course but any society that prioritizes the old over the young is terminally ill and destined to fail. I would say this entire COVID fiasco has really exposed the Boomer generation as being some of the worst blood sucking cowards. In a different timeline you could imagine another generation being selfless and deciding to sacrifice for the good the next generation, but that's not what I saw coming from the Boomers. I hope to do better myself when I reach that age but the Millennials are pretty pathetic also so we'll see...
