"Joe Ferrari" former police chief has 29 cars - many luxury supercars and sports models - on a 43K salary

The chief of the Royal Thai Police General Suwat Chaengyodsuk sent in Pol Maj-Gen Noppasin Phoonsawat to try and find a fugitive police colonel at the center of a murder inquiry.

 

Instead they found luxury cars - lots of them.

 

Pol Col Thitisan Utthanaphol was not at his Ram Inthra home in Bangkok but there were 13 sports and supercars including Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Mercedes Benz models. 

 

The provenance of the vehicles is being investigated.

Later Sanook discovered an inventory of all the vehicles owned by the former chief of the Muang Nakhon Sawan police in the north of Thailand.

 

It contained the names of 29 models amounting to hundreds of millions of baht.

 

Not bad for someone who Daily News reported yesterday as earning just 43,330 baht a month. 

 

The cop known by the nickname of "Joe Ferrari" was one of the leading lights in the fight against drugs until his abrupt removal from the force after a drug suspect died in custody.

 

The suspect was shown on a video being tortured by placing plastic bags on his head in an alleged extortion incident involving several officers.

most likely just a tip of an iceberg. Investigation just started and not all will be disclosed, as all it implicates his subordinates and superiors in force.

Just one of his residencies in thailand.

Probably he is already at his another home across border in cambodia or laos

Anecdotal evidence suggests he has flown out of the country on a private plane.  Being a Hi Society man as well is a whole different story, as well as his famous actress bride.  I am sure the cars will be found to be in her name, or his families name as well as the beautiful and spacious Mansion he owned on 5 Rai of land.

Because he is a psychopath. The system rewards people like him, and I'm sure his "superiors" wouldn't bear any similar scrutiny without evidence of massive extortion, murder, and supply of illegal drugs.

I just can't fathom it. Cars are a pain. Most normal people would have misgivings after the 4th car, or maybe the 10th car. Even for the collectors I watch on YouTube that's too much. Isn't it a lot of trouble to keep all these around? To maintain them? How could I possibly have enough time to use them all? Nope. Just keep racking up that list, filling that room, for everyone to see. The most cars, the biggest mansions, the hottest chicks. And especially in this country with its inequality and poverty. The government is full of people who know how to budget their money. Look at the PM....his official salary is something like 140,000 Baht per month and he owns an entire army.

It took a murder to uncover this level of corruption , seemed

to have no fear of anything coming to light, it's hard to hide

Isn't it? But it appears to be part of the local 'cultcha'.

 

It is not appropriate to 'break someone's rice bowl'.

 

It's a mafia state where it is dangerous to go against these people, you can wind up dead very easily even if you are a Westerner. We are fair game too now. Note that all the journos (local Thais and expats) that have pursued stories against Police and Army have had to leave Thailand due to threats to themselves and their families.

 

Starts from the government down, they have a convicted drug smuggler and alleged murderer in a ministerial position.

 

And to the readership here: please stop taking this country seriously. It is still very underdeveloped and will continue to be so for decades. Hopefully the youth keep digging in and force change. Education is key.

Having dealt with Thai officialdom since 1968 it is no surprise to me. Many military and police senior officers became rich as the result of corruption and it is seen as normal business and expected by the Thai people. A heritage of corruption is difficult to change.

I was absolutely astounded this morning when I asked my Mrs. ( An honest senior police officer ) if she had seen the video of the murder and that I said that all involved get the death penalty and the Dr. a life sentence. Her response was virtually that she found it kind of an acceptable practice because it happens in many police forces ! It appears as most know extortion and corruption are so entrenched here that it is acceptable by their standards and any honest person who speaks up against such practices should well know their life is in danger a very sad fact ! It is like the 3 wise monkeys hear no evil speak no evil see no evil

Basically was in with all the criminals and dealers and would be given a bust to make him look amazing by the dealers and I’m sure a nice lump sum of cash  . All the while the other 10 loads would be delivered to their destination without a problem as everyone would be looking at the poor sod fed to the police and praising the young super cop  !
