When tourism finally gets off the ground again in Pattaya they will have to forget the resort's notorious entertainment industry.

In an eight point plan aimed at ensuring that foreign tourism can get off the ground, came an acceptance of the situation from the Pattaya Tourist Business association.

Number eight assumed the entertainment industry is expected to remain shut whenever Pattaya reopens.

Number six on TBA chief Bun-anan Pattanasin's list is stopping any reference to "Sandbox" in the "Pattaya Moves On" brand.

Marketing materials will refer to Pattaya's new image as "BLUE".

This stands for Business, Leisure, Ultimate Experience.

Other measures the TBA raised with the TAT are chivvying the authorities to get everyone vaccinated - 50% have received a double dose in Pattaya and 20,000 remain to be double jabbed, reported Manager

Limiting quarantine to 7 days, promoting more direct flights and getting more hotels onboard with the SHA and SHA+ schemes remain other priorities.

Bun-anan was commenting after the CCSA knocked back the October 1st reopening D-Day to November 1st.

Pattaya wants to reopen faster than that and is insisting they be heard.

Sure Dudes! We are all very confident in that. Now back to bar and make up some more fairytales over 8 beers, a Red Label and 5 girls.

The new norm without the sexy girl/bars etc, I don't think so.

I think the thought persons have their glasses on backwards.

Plenty of business and leisure transactions occur at the massage shops on Soi Honey and Chaiyapoon 555.  For an "ultimate experience" , just start there

Life is Good

Peace

I can hardly imagine Pattaya as a family resort

This is great work by the DTA (Department of Tourism Acronyms).

And when they turn this place into a business hub, going blue, they can have an annual formal dance:

Blue Balls

To be honest, with 7-days quarantine and SHA hotels - and bars closed - I'm skeptical about the number of foreign tourist arrivals. It might take long time to establish the B.L.U.E. image - i.e. saying that I'm going on holiday in Pattaya often gets people to speculate - to rapidly get rid of the old reputation might be difficult...????

this concept will last as long as it takes for the cops/pols to feel the pinch in their wallets from the lack of pay-offs from the entertainment based businesses.

it took Las Vegas about a year to go from their new family-oriented concept

to "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"

Hahahaha.

Yeah right.

We’ve heard that one before.

Do they mean directly to U-Tapao by this?

Personally I find Swampy more convenient....although I do yet have to try the new Hwy Ext to UT.

They should have gone with "LUBE".

Business and leisure, once people manage to cross the road or walk down a non existing footpath where bikes are parked or someone selling something, they might even make it to a business meeting and i suppose the maze having to go through to get there is the leisure part. Even more fun when it rains, then you also get to guess if next puddle is a huge hole or only a puddle, in the mean time your car or a bike gets turned into a submarine while parked in the basement car park of a hotel

Took me a while to cotton on, but IMO the Pattaya Tourist Business association is putting out comedy statements to amuse the population in a time of hardship.

What other reason could there be for such obviously silly comments?

It's dead and buried then, take away the shady knocking shops there's nothing left...

Am expecting to see Walking-Street dotted with a row of 45-50 Starbucks establishments. ????

Ridiculous. Who wants to go anywhere where we can't see naked dancing girls and then bar fine one out after a few beers?. That's the whole reason we went to Thailand in the first place.

Wishful thinking in the  changing of  the reputation of Pattaya

The British tabloids will not be to happy reading this

Plus shock and horror news to the bar owners as if they are not already suffering

Take the sex industry out of Pattaya and you are left with a dreary ugly half city with serious pollution and zero attraction.... even the lovely beach is useless because swimming in the sea will make you ill.
At least the traffic would improve because there would be less people living there as businesses that depend on the mongers would disappear.

Go ahead...turn a normally thriving ..pre covid ... world famous resort into a dull " just another Thai seaside...without it being possible to swim in the water.....town.... " A failure ... snatched from the jaws of success.

I have the advantage of being here for a (very) long time and sorry to say Pattaya stopped being as you call it ‘thriving town’ 5 to 10 years ago when the Chinese/Indians/Russians arrived
